mom12
I love to relax in a nice hot bath and I know we weren't supposed to have one right after surgery but I neglected to ask how long I should wait. Does anyone know?
nothereanymore
From when I had mine I remember it being 30 days which was horrible. Love my bubble baths - and I just had another surgery and my current doctor said the same - 30 days.
jena
I asked Dr. M. how long before I can get back in the pool and she said 3 weeks. That would be May 30, only two weeks away!!! I'm going to have a steak dinner then swim some laps on May 30!!! Jena
crazycoolbutterfly
I do believe it is about 3-4 weeks post op for baths and swimming. Jena, :lb23: with that steak dinner because tough red meat for your first meals, try fish or something soft because the band tends to DISLIKE tough meat. As for swimming, I'm a month post op and still kinda leary (and thats because I LOVE to swim), I guess I just want to take things slow.
jena
You mean I can't have my steak? Waahhhh! How about ground beef? Or I could get shrimp. Thanks for the warning! Jena
fat2nrml
I was banded on 3-25 and I was told no tub for 2 weeks. I remember that because I also LOVE to soak in the tub! I was told no swimming for 3 weeks so that your stomach can heal. Best wishes, Darlene
mom12
Thanks! I am only one week so I guess I will just have to wait. I am getting used to the waiting and it feels good to be able to but I agree Jena that first meal sounds good. I think I'll do Salmon for my first.(two weeks from today, I can't believe I am 1 weeks out) I also can't believe I am 5.5 lbs. down even with the swelling YEAH! jena
I can't believe we're one week out either! Come on May 30th!!! I've lost 10 pounds in the last week, but I've got at least 100 more pounds to lose than you do. Jena
calicat
My birthday was 30 days post-op, and I wasn't not going to try steak. I went to the Keg (a nice steakhouse up here in the NW) and ordered my usual - a sirloin oscar. I cut small pieces (what I would have fed my 4 year old), and then butterflied it - cut it in half again (because it's so thick). I was done the same time as everyone else - and ate the whole thing!! It was absolutely yummy. Not one bite stuck or anything!! I get stuck once a day at at least one meal since I've been banded - and sometimes it's on "non-sticking" stuff. Please remember - EVERYONE is different! Try the steak and see how your band does with it. Don't give up something you enjoy just because someone else had a problem with that food. Mine does fine - but it doesn't do well with softer foods that no one else talks about trouble with - scrambled eggs of all things! Good Luck!
