I started at 175 pounds and I had my band placed May 8th, 2008. I think the weight loss might be slower for low Bmi persons, but I am not sure. I lost 3-5 pounds on the pre op diet and 5 pounds after so far. It will be two weeks tomorrow. I hope this helps, Lisa

MamaMichelle
lol, I am with you Jann... 175 is my GOAL right now (hope to hit it before the 4th of July) On a serious note there are a few low bmi posters here, so I'm sure they will be along to answer your questions from their personal experiences... From what I have seen yes it is typical for those with more weight to lose with lose faster but at some point we will all get down to those lower numbers and the weight loss will slow. But we are all aiming to lose 1-2 lbs per week and all of us can do it!!

I do think weight loss is slower initially for lower BMI'ers but if you keep up with your fills it should still be a pound or two a week.
lynzz
Hi Jessica, I started at 192, and was 187 pounds when banded on April 8th. Although I eat well and exercise almost everyday, weightloss has been minimal for me. I knew going into this with a lower BMI I would lose weight at slower pace, so have tried to not let it discourage me. I try to keep my focus on the long term effects of the band. I am scheduled for my first fill this Saturday and hope that will turn things around for me. Lynn
