Question about Port

I have a question about the port. After you lose the weight does your port show as a bump on your stomache? Just wondering and I knew that you all would have the answer. Thanks for all the support and information.

Good question......Yes in some cases, but it depends on your body, and how much weight you lose. It's not clear cut answer. I know of one person who's port did show a little bump.....but its rare!

It's not unusual to have the port repositioned or replaced with a low profile port after you lose a lot of weight. I've got so much skin left that it isn't an issue with me, but if I ever got a tummy tuck it might be.

I spoke to Dr. Romero at the OCC about port replacement and he says that they don't install a low profile port but they will place the port you already have deeper under the muscle so it doesn't stick out as much.

great question Caroline! I also thought about this but felt this was the least of my problems right now. it's great to know this though in case I ever get at a point where all the fat and skin are gone and can romp around being conscientious about a quarter size bump! Wow was I being sarcastic or wishing that this could be the case someday! I think both!
