The Progress of WillT

Recommended Posts

Here are my stats so far. I'm a techno-geek, everyone, so please bear with all the numbers. I have an Excel spreadsheet on my desktop and weighing every morning has become something FUN for the first time in my life. Instead of the weights, I'll post the weight LOSS over time. My results may or may not be typical, but they are my actual numbers.

Starting the pre-op diet: March 22 Weight loss 0

Day of surgery, 16 days later: April 8: Weight loss 13.5 pounds

Day of first fill, 55 days from pre-op: May 17 Weight loss 21 pounds

First fill + 5 days: May 22: Weight loss 26.5 pounds

Goal: 106 pounds. That gets me back to my college football playing weight (as a freshman in college)

# of PBs: 3 (too much, too fast caused all of them, I think)

first fill: 5 cc in a 10 cc band in Roswell, GA (the staff there are WONDERFUL)

# of times I've felt like I am starving: ZERO

favorite no-calorie drink: Crystal-lite... half tea, half lemonade (a calorie-free Arnold Palmer)

My ONLY regret at this point: Not knowing about Dr. Ortiz in 2003. If I had to do this all over again, I would do it WITHOUT hesitation. Getting up every morning, I almost RUN to the scales to see how much I've lost. My weight is lower this morning than it has been in 8 years. I have tons of energy, and already the joints that usually ache in the mornings and evenings are springing to life once more.

Thanks for the stats, you're doing great and so glad to hear your fill went so well. I will try to get some TJ pictures to you, it was a lot of fun and we missed you and your family. I am down 22# as of last Mon. Weighing everyday was not working for me, so I am trying to skip several days between weigh ins. Maybe we can get together during the summer somewhere. AND STAY ON TRACK AND KEEP POSTING! It's awesome that we can keep up with each other this way.

reneej

give my best to your family!

Hello LynnA! You're ALMOST done!!

After today, I have officially 9 days, but seniors take exams early, so that cuts me to 7 left with students. Most of those are exams and awards days.

I missed you and Renee also. Maybe we will have a reunion and do the town, and take an awesome "after" picture at the fountain. Everyone sounds like they such an awesome time, I regret I couldn't go even more now. All of you wild and crazy women loose on the town...

I also tried on my tuxedo yesterday. I announce the names at graduation and the honors assemblies. I'm going to have to get a new one ALREADY. It's draping off me, and I've only just started. I'm lucky though. I won't need it again until August. We may wear them to sing the national anthem September 17 for the Atlanta Braves/Phillies game. I may be skinny by then

See you later :-h

Hello Lynzz!!

It's been a while since our long walk in the early morning hours!! You're on your way! The 24th will change everything that you've learned so far... Just go slow, and be sure to drink low or no cal drinks a lot, and slowly after your fill. Also, the swelling is similar to the first days with the band. DEFINITELY go back to the liquids for a couple of days... Wendy's chili and I became awesome friends.

Do they even have Wendy's restaurants out in Cali??

Let me know how you're doing!! WE ARE ON OUR WAYYYY!!!

Hello Renee!

I did miss seeing you in TJ, and based on all I read about the trip, I missed a BLAST.... Maybe next time, I'll be able to be there too and be the saintly chaperone for the girls' nights out.

Tonight I went to the steak house and ordered my usual meal, but no salad. I asked for a to-go box right away, and put half of it for tomorrow. I barely was able to finish the little bit i left on the plate. I ate slowly and had no issues, and my good friends the burps made everything go wonderfully. And to top it all off, I have a fantastic meal awaiting me tomorrow.

I'd LOVE to see your pics from TJ. And it would be great to get together this summer sometimes. Sus would like that, and Andrew would be happy anywhere there is a pool that is warm enough to swim in. There is a good chance he'll get his Scuba certification this summer... he's all excited about that.

I cant wait to hear all about your fill trip.

Will

Ok... quick update:

total loss after 62 days: 29.5 pounds

total loss after surgery 46 days ago: 15 pounds

total loss after first fill 7 days ago: 7.5 pounds

dinner last night: about 10 chicken wings, 6 coated in a wonderful zesty sauce the restaurant calls "wild west" and the others in a wonderful sweet barbecue sauce known as "Bubba's". YUM..........

A funny observation: when I've had a lot of liquid, a can feel sloshing in my pouch. It's almost as if there is a small jug inside partly full of liquid that is actually sloshing around.... HEY! There is a small jug inside me partly filled with liquid. Slosh... slosh.... and if i walk faster... slosh-slosh-slosh-slosh.....

:D

Ok, now i add a new twist I didnt expect.

Job stress has been intense today. Anyone ever deserve a promotion but the give it to the person who sucks up the most? Yep. I want to crawl inside LOTS of greasy food, eating until I couldn't ingest another bite. I walked today instead of loading a plate, and honestly, that helped NADA lol.

I did drink a lot of no-calorie drinks, and feel full, but I crave the old way. I will go and eat something and drown it in ketchup for dinner. That may trick my tummy into thinking we're on the same page.

I will survive this week. I have gone to far to let something like this set me back from my goal. I love looking at the pictures of people's success on this site, and it motivates me more and more.

I guess I'm not the only emotional eater out there. Wow...... a half gallon of fudge ripple ice cream would go nicely right now.

Hurdles are set before us. We can overcome them. We must CHOOSE to overcome them.

WillT,

Sometimes buddy, life just sucks!!!!!

Since you're looking mighty dapper these days, do not give into the fudge ripple ice cream!!!! Say no to greasy food (except McDonalds' french fries  with lotsa ketchup once a month!).

You're doing great so keep up the good work.

Your gal pals here are counting on you!!!

Besides, think of how gross you would feel the next day.. you would be sick for a week! We have faith in you when you don't have any in yourself.

This may be a stupid question but I am not sure what a PB is? I am scheduled to be banded on June 19 and have been pouring through this forum for information and keep seeing that term used, I have no idea what that means.

When we eat something that isnt very cooperative with the band, it tends to block it, or clog it for a little while until it can pass through.

Things that clump together, like eaten bread, oatmeal, and many other things have started this feeling of compression in my chest, like i need to burp seriously but cannot.

My mouth salivates, and i go the restroom (this is gross - and spit the saliva out). This is the sliming stage, and you will feel like you are ready to hurl everything you've ever eaten. Breathe deeply, and stretch your arms, and finally you'll burp a lot, which relieves the feeling immediately, or you will throw up just a little bit (the matter that was clogging) and again the relief is immediate.

The key is to breathe deep, and try to burp. Try to burp lots, and keep a mental note of things that make you PB. When you do your pre-op, Dr. Miranda will tell you the real name of PB... It's long, and technical, but somewhere along the line it became "Pre Barfing", which is honestly an accurate description of how it feels.

It will pass within a couple of minutes, max (at least mine did).

Did you have to be so graphic????????????????

LOL. Sorry Dawnie. I didn't know how to describe it gingerly. Plus, I wanted to be as accurate as I could. How do yours feel?

[will pulls up a chair, he can't WAIT to read how SHE describes it : ) ]

It's called... productive burping. I'm 16 days post-op, and haven't experienced it yet, but next Thursday, June 5th is real food day. I'm going to be sure to use all of the advice I've learned on here from all of you, and take little bites, chew well, and don't drink before, during, and after a meal.

WillT, Darlin......... I'm afraid I could not even begin to compete with your graphic description, so I'll have to take the easy way out and say that I have not experienced PBing ... yet!

That is what you were asking me when you said "How do yours feel," right?
