Dying to get banded, but unsure

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just discovered this great forum. I am planning to do lap band surgery in Tijuana, Mexico. My surgeon has already done lipo surgery twice on me, but I always gain back the weight! I am 170 pounds and I would like to be 125 pounds. In the US, I do not qualify for surgery, but in TJ, alot of people who don't qualify are getting it done. My surgeon specializes in this type of surgery, but I would like to know if I have anything to worry about. What can you eat after? What are the post op symptoms? Am I crazy to do this?

Regarding the lipo - fat cells will regenerate if you take them out. They don't want to be gone!!! That's why you gained the weight back.

I haven't had the surgery yet, but most people say they cannot eat breads, rice, pasta, etc. Anything that swells in water, lol.

if you are not using ortiz you should be sure of your docs credientials ,experience etc. it sounds like you are going to a doc who does lipo and you need to go to a bariatric specialist and someone with lots of experience with lapband. Also lapband is not a quick fix or a cure - you have to diet and exercise with the band and get regular needed fills or you won't lose any weight. there are many ways to cheat with the band that willkeep you from losing weight. it's a 60/40 proposition in my book - 60% is your efforts and 40% are the bands.
