dianna
I was hoping for some sound advice from my forum friends. My surgery date is July 2nd, and I am topping the scale at 242 lbs. I want to loose as much weight as I can before my surgery date. What have you all done? I mean besides following Dr. Miranda's pre-op diet a few weeks before your surgeries? I have a little over one month before my surgery and I hope that I can loose about 20 lbs or more before my surgery. I would love to hear from you all. Thanks!!! dianna My weight battle makes me feel this way------------->
ElaineC
I am scheduled for June 19th and was told I need to lose 17 pounds. I started the protein drink for breakfast and lunch and lean cuisine for dinner. I have been doing that for about 2 weeks now and have lost 13.5 so far (and will weigh in next on Wednesday). So..so far so good. You can do it!
bandgroupie
I followed the pre op diet to a T: two shakes and lean cuisine and sometimes switched one shake for a green salad (lettuce, tomato, green pepper, cucumbers, mushrooms). I quit drinking sodas and stopped salting my food. I drank Special K Protien water and tried to do at least 30 minutes of exercise every other day. I wasn't good with my exercise. I lost 18 lbs. in three weeks. I was hoping for some sound advice from my forum friends. My surgery date is July 2nd, and I am topping the scale at 242 lbs. Dontondan
You have plenty of time! Just do the pre-op that Dr. M gave you and I started weeks early on it and lost more than I needed to and I was on a cruise and vacation for 2 weeks. Increase your exercise and you will do fine. A week before surgery I called Dr. M and she told me that I had lost more than enough and she let me eat Subway for lunch, what a treat! We are here for you during the rough spots. Kimra
I lost 33 lbs on the pre op... here is what I did... Breakfast 1 Strawberry EAS advantcontrol shake 17 g. of protein 1 carb and 110 cal. Snack 10 almonds Lunch 1 Strawberry EAS Shake Snack 1 oz. of jerky Dinner 1 South Beach frozen dinner Chicken Caprease 240 cal. 30 g. of protein and like 15 carb. (You have to be really careful with lean cuisine's cause a lot of them have WAY too many carbs in them) That is why I did the south beach and the chicken one is really really good!! Drink lots of water... i wasn't really a water drinker until now, so I lived on Crystal light (strawberry banana orange flavor.. YUM). Hope this helps!! jena
I did exactly the same thing as the others! I has 17 pounds to lose before banding. I started the diet Dr. Miranda gave me the day after I scheduled my surgery even though I had 7 weeks before my surgery. The diet she gave me is 1 protein shake in the morning, Lean Cuisine for lunch and dinner. SF Jello, salad with salad spritzers, and Minestrone soup only if I needed it. I lost 26 pounds as of the day I was weighed in. It's hard to do the first couple of days but if you hang in there and don't cheat, the rest will be a breeze. Good luck! trulytangledgrl
Hey all Well, I have basically been doing what many others have done for their pre-op diets. Dr. Miranda said I didn't HAVE to lose anything (due to the fact that my BMI is considered 'low' - 32), but that I could NOT gain A SINGLE POUND... LOL! So, needless to say that scared me into doing the preop diet anyhow. I have been doing 2 Slim fast low carb shakes (with 20 g of protein, 2 g carbs I THINK..., and like 190 calories), 1 lean cuisine/south beach diet meal/etc... and one south beach protein bar as a snack. My weight has fluctuated tremendously - one day its 198, the next its 194, the next 195, etc... but I have been staying around the same weight-range which is my goal. So, do what Dr. Miranda tells you to do, add in like 30-40 minutes of exercise (even if its just a walk) 5 days per week if possible, and you will be GOLDEN! LoraLW
Have you added in the chromium picolanate (spelling) and the metamucil caplets. The chromium breaks down fat and the metamucil gives you a full filling. Try these with the diet and try not to stress. Lora
doodles
I lost 18 lbs by drinking slim fast chocolate royal and eating progresso soups for lunch and dinner. Get the broth based ones they are lower in fat and calories. Good luck
