catfriend
I was banded on May 26th, and haven't lost any weight. I felt like I was starving a few of the first days. I'm not taking in more than 1000calories, at most. Thoughts? How long does the pain from the port incision last? Sometimes mine burns like mad. Did anyone need other medication besides the stuff they sent home with us? I've been taking ibuprofen to ease that burning pain.

You need time to heal, did they tell you at the OCC not to worry about losing right now, that'll come after your first fill? Everyone's different, I didn't lose much yet either but I know it'll come. Your body may have gone into starvation mode, try getting at least 1200 cals a day. And drink, drink, drink!! You'll get there!! I had some port discomfort about 10 days out. I wrote Dr. O and told him about it and he emailed me right back. Mine was a tugging feeling from the inside which eased after a few days. Your port is sewn to muscle, so it can be tender for awhile. You should call the OCC if the pain keeps up. I took ibuprofen too, it seemed to help. Best wishes, Darlene
calicat
Unless I've added wrong, you're not even a week out yet. You're still recovering from surgery and there could be many many reasons you aren't losing weight yet - one being swelling. Please be patient. I know it's hard when you come onto this forum and see so many success stories. Trust me, I'm envious and compare my stats more often then I should. I felt bad that I only lost weight the first week, and then zero pounds for the next five weeks. I felt like something was wrong. Nothing was wrong - that was just me - my body - my experience. You will lose weight on the band - just give it time. OCC tells us to not plan on losing a pound until after our first fill - anything before that is bonus. So please don't fret, be patient, your turn will come. Good luck!
