Caroline how are you????!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I hate to answer for Caroline but I know it will be several days before she can make it to a computer so I know she won't mind. She called me right after her surgery on Friday and she was doing great. Dr. O and staff took good care of her and moved her port. They cleaned up the old site and stiched it up. They were going to check her everyday until she left Tijuana (which is today). I will let Caroline give all the details, just wanted to let you know she was doing well.

Caroline's bestfriend an band buddy,

Jayme

I was just wondering, why did they have to move her port? I am soooo worried that my port will flip again and if so, just wondering if they will have to move it somewhere else.

Hello tlag, Look on page 5 under "port incision draining" and read Carolines story. I don't think her port flipped... not sure though.

No worries, her port did not flip. She developed a hematoma around her port which was not allowing it to heal. So, that is why it had to be relocated. It is very, very rare and not something that happens often.

I am not sure but it is my understanding that if you flip your port you'll know it. It is also my understanding that it takes quite a bit to flip it...but I am sure like most things, everyone is different.

When I went for my first fill last week, doc said he can tell right away with the fluro if the port flipped. [That's one reason I wanted to go back to the OCC for at least my first fill, I wanted to make sure all was well.] And it is, thank goodness!! ><'

Thank you all for your concern and thoughts. I am doing much better. The doctors and nurses at OCC took very good care of me as Jme mentioned. They were wonderful as are all of you.

No, my port did not flip. As Jme stated I had a very rare reaction from the blood thinner they gave me prior to the surgery. They moved my port to the right side of my body and in fact gave me a new tube and port just as a precaution that they had been jeperdized in any way due to the reaction.

I am healing, of courxe now my belly looks like it has really been through a war from all the incisions and old scars from previous surgerys

Iwantbanded, thanks for worring about me, hope you are doing well.

Jme, my band sister, your awesome as usual :D

So glad to hear you're OK Caroline!! =D> And many thanks to Jme to letting us know how you were! The OCC just amazes me more and more.... the care that they give their patients is unheard of in the States.

P.S. I am doing well, just trying real hard to stick with my diet, eat slow and not drink while eating.

Keep us updated!! ><img src=<' />

OCC realy is wonderful. They did not charge me a dime for the second surgery or transportation. They even paid for one night at the hotel. Thant would never have happened here in the states. One more reason I am very happy that I chose them for my banding.

I'm a Democrat(sometimes) but theres no way we need universal health care. It's bad enough now.

The problem now is too many people with no insurance.(I have no insurance either)

We need a pay as you go system!! This is what makes Dr. O be able to have a nice clean hospital.
