I heard for some many years that we should eat about 1200 calories and with exercise, we should be able to loose weight. My hubby without the band, has lost 70 pounds following that regiment. sO my question is , once we received our second fill and beyond, and we can eat as much, how is that our body are able to loose weight? Dr. miranda says that we should only eat 2 meals a day without snack, so we are eating about 600 calories per day. HELP please

I don't know but 600 doesn't seem like enough to me, I think you will do more damage on your matabolism. But I don't know??? I would try 1200 and if your not losing do less!!

Good Luck

I believe Dr. Miranda wants us to eat 3 meals a day, not sure if that was a typo or you didn't understand her guidelines but that is what she suggests.

I am with Donna aim for 1200 a day and see what happens after 2-3 weeks, if you're still stuck you can either cut back on the food intake or if you're happy eating the 1200 cals a day then add in some exercise so you can burn off some of those calories.

And just because you someone has had their second fill doesn't mean they can eat anything and as much of anything they want. She wants us to make healthy choices for the food we do eat after we are banded.

thank you to all that reply. I am still confused about the amount of calories. If we are restricted, and only eat small portions three times a day(it was a typo, thanks mamamichelle), then how can you eat 1200 calories in three meals?

I counted my calories with three meals and no snacks, and they add up to no more than a 1000. Needless is to say that i have not lost any weight in 4 weeks.

Suggestions, PLEASE :-?

Let's say for instance you have 1 cup of diced skinless roasted chicken (214 calories), 1/2 baked med. potato (about 150), 1 cup of green beans (40 calories) that's around 400 calories. If you add 1 cup of grapes, that would add another 65 calories or so.

That's not an unreasonable meal and comes in around 400-450 calories.

Maybe for breakfast, a couple of hard boiled eggs, a little low fat mayo, a toasted slice of whole wheat bread and a serving of vanilla yogurt with a few blueberries/strawberries thrown in. That would come in around 400-450 calories.

For lunch, salad greens with 1 cup chicken, a couple of cherry tomatoes, a little onion, spinach, and a little low fat cheese. throw on a couple of croûtons or have a couple of crackers. Use the salad spritzers for the dressing. Have a small apple to finish it off and you once again have 400-450 calories.

That's about 1200-1300 calories for the day.

Hey! that sounds pretty good!
