housecatgirl
Hey Mary, Have you tried the crystal light sunrise orange? It's alot like diet orange soda only w/o the carbonation. I used to be a fan of diet orange soda, too.
Guest marys
yes and i love love love it! my bandster friend here in utah just turned me onto tang and she swears it is sugar free with only 5calories and i am hooked already - smile. in fact i am going out right now to try to find it. she said walmart so that's where i m headed. i did flatten a diet orange soda awhie ago and it just didnt do it for me - not very good. since banding i have had two-three cravings where i really wanted it but i can pretty easily resist it - go figure, i thought it would be near impossible to give it up. i do miss champagne occassionaly but wasn't a big beer drinker. looking forward to meeting ya. mary
trizzy
Hey there! Olive Garden was SO delicious---and the beers after were just as good! I did have a hangover though, so that made saying goodbye a whole heck of a lot easier! lol What has been really hard is re-doing some rooms in our house and getting hot and thirsty and not being able to reach for a nice cold one. Let's see---one week liquid diet includes Coors Light right? lol I have actually been a very good girl ( SO FAR!) with the liquid/salad diet. Not really hungry, just want to eat--but I don't. So far I've lost about 3 pounds--only about 7 more to go to surgery! Well, thanks all for the encouragement--WE CAN DO IT!
lanie
Just finished paying for my surgery - guess this is as real as it gets - so far I have lost 7lbs - only three more to go before surgery, (28 Aug) even I can do that. Now I am starting to feel the nerves. I am "nesting" like you can't believe. I don't think I did this much before my sos was born. . Anyone else out there feeling this way? PAMMIE
. Occasionally I get this racing heart moment, like "What the he!! am I I doing?" THE WHOLE TIME MY FRIEND SANDY AND I WERE DOWN THERE THAT'S WHAT WE SAID LOL ALL I REALLY WANTED WAS TO LEAVE THE CLINIC AND HAVE A BEER AND A SMOKE BUT........ RELAX, IT REALLY WAS A GOOD EXPERIENCE AND I'D DO IT AGAIN AT THE OCC AGAIN TOMORROW ps I haven't had a smoke yet, I want one but.... Guest marys
Pammie, good luck with quitting smoking - i know how hard it is - i too a former smoker (i guess it's all about one kind of addiction or another) and now i'm quite reformed - absoutely hate em and can smell em a mile away - i used to think if i just blew the smoke away from someone why woud they care - ha. i must admit cigs are so ooooo addicting - even after 10+ years i STILL get a craving - very very rare and unpredictable but there you go. Just don't even contemplate having one - don't go around them, etc. once you start thinking about it -it's worse. i quit the old fashioned way - just every day picked one place or time i wouldn't smoke again - the first was in the car - and believe me for about 1 1/2 years i was reaching down in the console to grab one - i also quit going to bars for about 1 year which was good in other ways -ha. well anyway, just wanted you to encourage to keep up the not smoking - you will be glad you did. mary THE WHOLE TIME MY FRIEND SANDY AND I WERE DOWN THERE THAT'S WHAT WE SAID LOL ALL I REALLY WANTED WAS TO LEAVE THE CLINIC AND HAVE A BEER AND A SMOKE BUT........ 6Jewels
Hi all August Bandsters! I am scheduled to be banded on August 31st! Yeah! Anyone else on that day? Good luck to all who are not banded yet. Michelle Hi I also am being banded on August 31st!! Am anxious to be on the other side. I am looking forward to meeting all of you who will be there going through this on the same day. Start my liquid diet tomorrow. After what has been a lifetime of dieting, I have high hopes this is the beginning of really being to keep it off. Good luck to all of you. I have really gotten a lot of support and good information from reading the new daily posts, and wanted to thank all of you for sharing. See you in Mexico.... ClaireinCO
Hey Catherine! What are you drinking for your liquid fun fest? I tried 2 different protein shakes today at breakfast and lunch. They were super chalky and gross. I have to find something tonight because the "Real" liquid diet starts tomorrow. YIKES. I bought about 12 single packets of different stuff trying to find something that was decent. No luck so far.
mferra
Hi Claire and Catherine! Can't wait to meet you two on Thursday. It is going to be an exciting time for all of us! I am starting my liquid fast also tomorrow. I am going to use FIT 365. I have lost 1 lb. and have 9 more to go by surgery day! Did you both practice taking small bites and chewing til mush. I did it and it is not that bad you . . . just feel like you are chewing forever. I need to work on the 30/30 rule - no drinking 30 minutes before eating or 30 minutes after eating. Good luck to you and I'll see you both on Thursday. Be blessed! Michelle
kepola
Pammie, You are doing so good not smoking. Don't go back..you will feel soooooooo much better. I stop smoking on June 7th after smoking almost 30 years and 3 to 4 packs a day. Since I had my surgery on July 18th I thought I would want one once I started on my solid foods. But I have not had one. There was one time where I felt like I really wanted one but my husband told me to take a walk or go outside and take a few deep breaths and it will pass....it did....the sensation only lasts for about 30 seconds so when you feel like you want to smoke...go outside and take a few good deep breaths or go for a short walk. You will quickly see how the sensation to have one goes away. Good luck to you and good luck to all who are having the surgery done this month. Keep us posted. By the way my husband quit smoking on July 27th because he did not want me to go back to smoking. He's a wonderful support. Take care!! cleo6666
HI! I'm Michele and I live in Mill Creek! Not far up the 405 from you. As I type this letter, you might be in the van getting a ride to the clinic. Have a great time. Relax. Sleep. Enjoy your new friends at the clinic...both employees and your fellow lapbanders. You have a special bond with the people who are having surgery today now. Well, I did. I keep in touch with one of my same day surgery buddies from Alabama and we talk/email almost every day. And just today, another one of my same day surgery buddies emailed me from New York! It's great. I love the support. If you'd like....we can start a support group in WA. I'm all for it. In fact when you're up to it, email me and I'll host the first get together. Let's invite the gals from Auburn and Federal Way and I believe a man that's local who is having surgery Sept 8th! Take care and be good to yourself. Michele mp6666@hotmail.com I guess I should have wrote "Hi Bethy" in that email.... If mommyrkr, Bethy, Pammie and Pammie's friend want to keep in touch....please do. Michele

It has 15g of protein, and only 1g of carbs after you subtract the 4g of fiber. My favorite flavor is chocolate delight, my husband's really likes the strawberry flavor they have. I have been getting them at Walmart, where of course they are a lot cheaper than any other place I have seen them, especially the health food store I like mine really cold makes drinking them easier. So 15 minutes before I have one I stick it in the freezer. I have lost 8 lbs pre-op so far, and have been really pleased on how the liquid protein really helps you lose the weight for a better safe surgery. I see you are from CO, I live in OK, so our flying time is going to be a lot the same. My flight doesn't get there until 8:20 Wednesday night so I probably won't be seeing you until Thursday. I am using Atkins Advantage, so far it is the only one I could stand drinking. It is a lot better when I pop it in the freezer 15 min. before I drink it. I have practiced the small bites and chewing, and chewing, and chewing. It felt like baby food when I got done, but doable. I live in Oklahoma, where do you hail from ? mferra
Catherine, I am from Phoenix, AZ. My flight arrives in San Diego at 6:00 p.m. I think I might try the Atkins Advantage shakes also. Congrats on the 8lbs. so far. I still have 9 to lose . . . H E L P!! Claire, today was a hard day for me also. I am hoping that if I stay really busy, it will keep my mind off of the hunger. I would like to know how both of your husbands feel about the surgery. Were they supportive or hesitant? Mine was hesitant until he did more research on Dr. Ortiz. Now he is looking forward to meeting the good doctor. I'll be thinking about you guys when my tummy rumbles. Michelle

Michelle Michelle I have been working so many hours at my job the hunger so far has not been a problem. This weekend will be a real test for me. We are having company, and attending my company picnic, which is being held at an amusement park. Food will be everywhere, and I get to enjoy my chocolate shake, yum yum My husband was also hesitant when I first told him about it. Two years ago I cancelled having a gastic bypass. He was concerned that the reasons I did that could also happen with a Lap Band. After I explained everything to him, and went over my research he has been very supportive since. However, the only other person I have shared my decision with has been my daughter, who also supports my decision. She knows how I have battled this weight problem. I just don't want everyone else's opinions and comments. I have a saying , "everyone has a belly button, and everyone has an opinion on how other people should lead their lives, and neither one of them really serve any useful purpose." That is why I am so looking forward to meeting all of you who will be my fellow banders. You know what I have been through for years on weight issues, and we can support each other through this. Everyone hang in there with their liquid protein diets, it will be over soon an before you know it we will all be meeting in Mexico. Catherine Catherine, we get in at 8pm. ClaireinCO
Michelle, I'm rockin on day 3 of liquids/greens. I am feeling pretty good. I've learned I really require something every 2 hours. So hot tea or borlli or a potein shake...something needs to go in the belly every few hours or I go LOCO. Last night I took a bag of fresh spinach, a 1/2 cup edamame, a few green olives, and some asparagus and 'dry fried' it up with garlic. It was so good! We'll see how the weekend goes. My husband was at first toatlly against the surgery. He insisted that I could be succesful with Weight Wathcers because I had lost weight with that before. He was a tough sell. He thought the surgery was too drastic. But I did a lot of research and explained to him that I really felt it was right for me. I've been heavy since I was a little kid and he has only recently bulked up --- so I think it was hard for him to see that I had struggled for 20 years, not 4 or 5! Ultimately, he became very supportive. But it took a lot of info and persuasion that this was a good thing.
mysterymachine
I had soup yesterday and what a difference it makes! No more headache, no more feeling like i've just ran a marathon woohooo! Back to the liquid protein tonight for work and off to the airport in the morning. I hope there isn't anything i'm forgetting (important stuff anyways). I've got my papers, clothes, bathroom gear and my camera LOL. Also, anybody know what to look for as far as the driver when we get off the plane? I think i read that he/she will be at the baggage terminal. I hope they are carrying a sign, i'd hate to get down there and can't find the driver.
