GirlBarb
I am starting to wonder if I am doing something wrong. I am 8 days from solids and very hungry. I have not eaten solids yet and will wait to do so. My problem is that I drink clear liquids, soups and protien drinks in larger quanties than 4 oz. , sometimes 6-8 oz. It feels like it is going right through without restriction. AM I HURTING MY POUCH, OR IS IT JUST SLIPPING THROUGH TO THE BIGGER STOMACH? HELP
MamaMichelle
At this point, before your first fill your band isn't restricting anything... Post op swelling can give you the feeling of restriction in the early days after being banded. So it's totally normal that you are feeling hungrier and that the liquids are going right through your band!!

I was so hungry that the next day I was sick, sick, sick and ended up having to be brought back in and given an IV with "lunch/dinner", electrolytes, and vitamins! It was such a good thing for me to go back!!! I am hungry, everyone is different. They actually put me on proteins the following day! The Dr. told me, "eat, eat, eat (soups/protein drinks) and drink. If you are hungry and need 9 Slimfast, then drink 9! If you need to keep eating broth, then keep eating it!" So, there is your answer! Just don't gulp it down, sip it and you should be fine!!! Good luck! Oh, by the way, I just was banded a week and two days ago!!!
Pink
Hi Barb-- I am the same way, today I was sooooo hungry! My stomach makes a lot of weird noise so I eat creamy soup and then more creamy soup, more than 4 oz at a time and finally feel better. I need to learn to sip. I still get a lot of gas, probably because I gulp instead of sip. I hope tomarrow goes better than today.
Kittycat
I can totally relate...I felt restriction after a small amount of creamy soup, yogurt or pudding, but yesterday I needed to eat more soup to feel that restriction. Tonight I had some chili, blend a little, for dinner and chewed like crazy and barely got through 1/3 of the cup before feeling full. I guess it comes and goes. I expect the full feeling will dimish as the swelling subsides, I am only 10 days post op. I am able to start tommorrow on chunkier soups...yeh!! (sarcastic) I am really sick of soup and have a tongue full of canker sores...lovely! But I have lost 6 lbs since surgery, so I am happy! Take care, Cathy
