Trying Not to Lose My Grip....

Recommended Posts

Hi YorkieMommy,

I was on two weeks liquids with Optifast 900 pre-op, post op I was on 4 days of clear liquids, on Jun 14 I started on full liquids (creamy soups, yogurt and puddings) for two weeks, on June 28th I start blended/mushy foods for two weeks and start on solids as of Friday July 11th.

My surgeon feels this is the best method to ensure healing. But it's getting tough.

Ok, gotchya. :)

It helps to think about how after the liquid diet we aren't supposed to have liquid calories. I keep thinking, "Oh no! No more Chai Tea Lattes" and then I have one now since there's no more liquid calories when we move onto solids. :) Today is my husbands b-day and we went out to "the soup bowl" for lunch. So that was fun to have some soup while being at a restaurant. You can do it, just keep thinking about what liquid cals you wont be able to have later and have it now. ;)

I learned the term HALT a long time ago from an OA meeting, here is what to ask yourself:

H=Are you Hungry

A=Are you Angry

L=Are you Lonely

T=Are you Tired

Sometimes it helps to know where the craving is coming from. You are doing great and are a great suport on this forum, we are not just suporting you, but looking up to you too. thank you for all of your input. barb

Personally, I use getting a snack to avoid something else that needs to get done or to avoid dealing with the anxiety that I get at times. Okay a lot.
