Thank you honey!! I haven't lost a pound in over a week!!!

But I am losing inches, which I know because I bought some shorts in the Target Juniors section and I had a muffin top once I zipped them up (muffin top: a fat roll pushed up and spills over your pants!!)

But I wore them yesterday, did not have a muffin top, and was able to slide them off without unzipping, woohoo! :D

OooOo Junior section and here's me just hoping to get out of XL! WTG girl!

As far as yogurt and soups...

It was my understanding that you should not consume a lot of liquid calories since the band is not made to restrict your liquid intake.

Also be careful with "slider" foods. If you chew chew chew on Potato Chips, it becomes really mushy like mashed potatoes, and slide right on through the band. Sour Cream, guacamole, salsa, etc. are slider foods as well. Solid protein and veggies will take more time to digest through the band, making you feel more full. So limit the intake because food that is coated in these empty calories will slide through faster. These are not Dr Mirandas "guidelines" but more of a cautionary note to maximizeyour weight loss, feel full after a meal, which will make you less hungry sooner.

I am not saying that I follow these rules indefintely. But I know that I will be able to eat more than usual if I eat really mushy food or use a lot of condiments because they will coat my solids.

HTH

Evette

That's really good to know, so when I eat solids, if I have egg on toast and follow it with a yogurt, it will slide it through instead of sitting there? I was hoping to use food to help slide down food that could get stuck..but I guess not???

Here is a little tidbit that stopped me from eating at most fast food burger places.....they put meal worms in the meat as a filler!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hearing that made me sick and I have never eaten at McD's, Wendy's, or A&W again. I just can't imagine eating worms. Doesn't that just make you want to run out and have a burger?????? YUK!!!!!

LMAO! I remember hearing that about fast food when I was a child, but I was told it was all a big lie!

I don't know if it is REALLY true, but after being told that, I can't look at McD's without gagging. Curred my Mc'Ds habit for good.

I'd say that would mean that we all have a few meal worms in us :):)

Um...wow...I just threw up in my mouth a little. I am going to have to really think about that next time I see a fast food burger! :o

I asked Dr. Miranda about blending the soups with chunks and she advised against it. She said however that if you do that you should strain it after it is blended to make sure there are no chunks remaining when you eat it. This of course applies to the 21 day liquid diet.

It was not my intent to criticize cedar. I would never criticize anybody on this forum. We all fight the same battle everyday. We all deal with different food demons and life demons. My goal was for all of us to accept we are not going to be perfect everyday. Skinny people eat what we consider bad food...just not all the time. In the end it is up to you to figure out what is acceptable to you. I agree you should follow Doctor orders...for sure. I just do not want us to set us up for failure. Hats of to cedar for being so strong. I think I am strong too. Cedar is a captian in a food war. You are certainly a fighter for good choices. I wish you the best of success. However, some people are not as strong and need a little more support. Everybody is going to have a different jouney. All I can think to add to this is to remember your health first. I am going to start excercizing soon. Kinda looking forward to it. Do any of you remember how long you were suppose to wait. I have been walking. I have an eliptical machine I would like to start using but I do not know if it is to soon yet. I am starting each day planning for success. You have to plan that. It does not come easy...it is hard work. Today let's all plan for success. Dawn

yep.. health is first..

And worm burgers? gross... even if it is an urban legend, the image of it is burned in my memory. ugh..

(Actually, the owner of our local meat market delivers the beef fresh every day to Wendy's. I know his is pure, delicious, beef..

Shut up, Paula.. you are making yourself hungry.

I have a friend who is in AA, Richard H., who gave me some valuable advice. I want to share this advice with those of us who have made some bad food choices. Please excuse the slight profanity in the quote, as I am trying to keep it close to what he actually said.

All of us have had bad choices in our life... alcoholism, gluttony, overspending, infidelity. We also have had experiences that damaged us inside and hurt or destroyed our self-esteem...insults, teasing, parents and friends criticism, job discrimination, etc...Deep wounds and bad experiences and choices. This is all the "shit" in our lives.

We all have to cross a bridge EVERY SINGLE DAY from where we are to where we want to be. Under that bridge flows all the "shit" from our life experiences. When we cross that bridge, there are times when we will lose our focus and fall off the bridge into the river of "shit." We have two choices; to stay in the shit and waller around in our past that is flowing over and around us, sometimes going under, OR we can climb out of that river, wash ourselves off, and cross the bridge to the next step in our healing.

That impacted me so deeply, as my overeating and binging are the result of past experiences, even if it just something as simple as making bad food choices one day. Sometimes I have fallen off the bridge, (sometimes multiple times for the same thing,) into the shit of my life, and I have wallered around in that river, but most of the time I have climbed out, washed myself off, and crossed the bridge.

We all have that choice to make. Make the good choice, and if you fall off, climb out and try again.

That was awesome Paula! I can so relate to the feeling of falling into the "shit". And I love the whole bridge metaphor - I'll definitely remember this, and I'm sure it will be helpful when I find myself falling towards the shit.

Learning how to clean yourself off and get back on that bridge is, I believe, even more important than focusing on never falling off. The fact is that we will fall off every once in a while. If we don't learn how to get back on the bridge it only takes one slip to ruin everything.

Thanks for the post! ><'
