mommyrkr
I am 7 days post-op. I have read and reread the pages given us by Dr. Miranda before surgery. And I still have questions. I believe I can start protein drinks on day 10? And tomato soup, or other fat-free, chunk free soups also on day 10? When can I have milk? Can I have pudding at some point, fat-free, sugar free?? What about mixing soup in a blender or something, can I do that and on what day? Does anything change on day 8, other than getting yogurt? Dr. Miranda said we could have yogurt as early as day 4 if we felt like we could handle it. I will probably have more questions, but this is just what is on my mind right now. Oh, yeah, one more. When is day 1. Is it the day of surgery, or the day after? Thank you soooooo much. Becki
Chelley
I had my surgery back in April and the handout Dr. Miranda gave to me, she wrote on and detailed it to my specific needs. You should consult Dr. Miranda by phone if you are having this many questions to make sure you are following the plan per her recommendations. Otherwise, the plan is as written. Hope this helps. ClaireinCO
As I understood it, you could start the second phase, i.e. full liquids as soon as day 4 if you felt hungry/up to it, etc. In any case, you must do that trasition day with yogurt to replace some of your digestive enzymes and healthy intestinal bacteria. I counted day 1 as the the day AFTER sugery. From my paperwork and the notes I took, it is Day 1-3 clear liquids, Day 3-7 continue on clear liquids or transition to drinkable yogurt and other full liquids. Day 7 you can begin protein and pureed stuff and thicker liquids. I'm interested to know what others have done. Although I'm mentally ready for soups and fuller liquids, I still get pretty full on juice and broth. This is Day 3 for me.
mommyrkr
So does that mean milk on day 7? Thanks, Becki

mysterymachine
I had a question about smoothies...if they are pureed (sp?) and slightly melted, when can we have a fat free/sugar free smoothie? For some reason i've been dying to have one! I would assume its ok on the Full Liquid phase as long as there is no chunks.

I'm totally and completely unable to eat / drink anything that came from a cow at any point in time (no red meat, no dairy), but there is this awesome little smoothie place at the mall that does a blueberry soy smoothie. Yummmm
