As far as I've heard (someone will correct me if im wrong i hope) was that to stay away completely from beer because of the carbonation but liquor should not have any effects on you other than the added calories/carbs/fat or whatever is in it.

I dont like beer anyway so this works in my favor :)

I do look forward to the day when I can have a vodka and cranberry juice or something...of course in moderation :)

I'm not too sure about when you can drink liquor though, i would assume when you go to full solids if not before as its a clear liquid.

I HAD WHITE WINE THE DAY AFTER SURGERY

DR MIRANDA SAID I COULD TRY A BEER, OFF TAP IN 6 MONTHS AND SEE HOW IT GOES

Why would she tell you that? Even the nutrition instructions she handed me says "NO CARBONATED DRINKS EVER AGAIN!". I don't think there's a difference between naturally and forced carbonation.

Bubbles is bubbles, and parts is parts, no?

Actually she told me one beer at the ballpark 6 months from now would be possible. On tap and after it had set for awhile

No carbonation: beer, sparkling wines, certain wine coolers. However, 5 months post op I am able to have mixed drinks with no carbonation - like a tequilla sunrise. Try to pick something you can sip. Be warned though... alcohol seems to absorb much faster post band! Also, alcoholic beverages are loaded with hidden calories. Chelley

No beer was almost a deal breaker for me! I really LOVE the taste of beer and don't drink it to get drunk. I really had to think long and hard about giving it up. Fortunately, I have not had the withdrawls that I thought I'd have (4 weeks now) and can actually watch someone drink a beer without crying. I have had white wine a couple of times since banding with no ill effects. I'm really trying to cut back because of the calories though. At least I can socialize with my drinking friends now and not feel too deprived.

If you go to the topic of carbonated beverages you will see that after 6 months you can have them if you want except that they are just empty calories. We confirmed this with LoriBecky and slurpees are also carbonated. Dr Ramon said at my fill that you just need to let it sit for a bit

Ok... just some clarification. Dr. Ortiz says they are off limits for 6 months and recommends you avoid them all together as they have no nutritional value! Here's the link to that topic Carbonated Beverages

WELL WHO DRINKS FOR NUTRITIONAL VALUE? LOL
