celebrating?!?

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I just got my first test from school this semester graded and I got an A! WOOHOO!!! I studied for weeks and am doing really well. Also I took measurements and I've lost 3 inches from my hips in just over one week! WOOHOO AGAIN!!!!

The first thought in my mind was to celebrate with food- a nice dinner or maybe dessert... But NO WAY!!! I don't even want healthy food to be treated as something special. I'm trying to change my whole attitude about food so there is no emotional eating.

So I've been thinking all day about different ways to celebrate. I just bought about 10 new outfits (I hit a sale) and it seems kinda like a waste since I'm losing the weight...

So how does everyone celebrate post WLS? I'm really interested to hear some different suggestions.

Thanks,

Kali

Hi Kali,

I also like to buy clothes and jewelry to celebrate, but then I also enjoy buying books of interest, music (sheet music and CD's) and getting a massage. A manicure/pedicure are also up there on my celebration list, along with planning a weekend getaway to the U.S. with a girlfriend (we tend to shop until we drop), buying some studio time (and doing some recording) as well as going to a spa up in the mountains for a day.

Anything that makes you feel happy, relaxed and/or rejuvinated gets my celebration vote!!

P.S. A friend of mine used to take $10.00 and deposit it into a special account each time she lost a pound. At the end of her weight loss journey, she used the money to buy herself a new wardrobe, which I thought was really quite exciting!

Good for you!!! The A and 3 inches are a lot to celebrate!!

I'm old :P , single with no kids and make a pretty good income, so buying clothes and manicures, pedicures and massages are part of my normal routine. So, to treat myself I've been buying *smaller* clothes (on sale of course) that I will fit into later.

There is so much stuff on sale right now and living in the South, there are only a couple of months that we have to wear sweaters and warmer things. I wear jeans and t-shirts all year round. So now I'll have some things to wear when my clothes get too big.

This is a treat for me because I've never had the hope that the weight loss would continue so I never planned for more weight loss. Until now!! So, how about finding another big sale and buying some outfits in one size smaller?

Another thing you can do to celebrate is to get with your friends and/or family and do something fun. A game of touch football, badminton, rollerblading in the park, going to a museum, take a little road trip for the day, go to garage sales, just spend some time together without it being centered around food.

How about you and your friends all go and get a tiny tattoo? :o

OMG, these are all great ideas! I love the $10 a pound idea. I think I will start that the next time I weigh myself. But I wrote down all of your suggestions in my weight loss journey journal and now have all these great options! BTW, I decided to go away tonight with a friend to a casino. Gotta love those Indian reservations in California! LOL! They are so much fun- and maybe I'll win!

Thanks again you guys! And can I just say/write how grateful I am to be a part of this forum. You guys are all wonderful!

Hugs,

Kali
