:(Hi...

I had my surgery last April and I'm glad I did. The fact is that I'm still not able to loose weight and keep it off. I had three fills already. My last fill went up to 3.4cc, when 4.0 is the max, so I'm close there. I still can't deal with the emotional eating and I'm unable to eat without having at least water to drink because the food will not go down past my throat.

Sometimes I'm unable to eat anything, and sometimes I'm able to eat a full meal (3 slices of pizza) or more. Vomiting is a daily part of my life now. I feel guilt that I spend all this money having the surgery that is suppose to help me achieve my goal of weight loss but because I'm unable to follow the post-op instructions I'm failing.

My primary care doctor say I have develop bulimia. The bulimia is causing esophageal spasm that is extremelly painful. My weight goes up and down because I can't keep myself away from high-calories food.

I'm just confuse, lost, without knowing where to look for help. I don't want to scared anybody away, please. The surgery is great if you are able to follow the post-op care. I was hoping to get a feedback from somebody that went through the same thing I'm going through and was able to bounce back.

I hope I can find help here.... This is a cry for help.

Hello Dear!!

Well first let me say your not alone. After reading your post I think I can see some of your triggers. Let's try to address each one individually.

1. Don't get hung up that you are filled at 3.4 and think your getting close and you have no where to go if you hit the 4.0 sometimes even adjusting .1 can make a huge difference.

2. Drinking with meals. Honey yes you can "STOP" drinking with meals. If you are taking the appropriate small bites and really chewing (I mean to liquid form) you can skip the water. You have to attempt to do this with every meal.

3. Unable to eat anything v. being wide open. This is what is called the fickle band, it feels at times it has a mind of it's own. What happens here is typically based on our stress level, time of the month and so forth the band will tighten and loosen on it's on, very normal and common. However vomiting should not be a daily occurance

4. Don't beat yourself up because you have "Fallen of the Bandwagon". That's the beauty of the band it's there and ready to due it's roll once we are ready to commit to it.

Try going back to the basics. Eat three meals a day w/maybe a healthy snack in between. Chew Chew and chew somemore. Do not drink w/your meals. This defeats the purpose of the band, your washing your food through and making room for more. Stay away from soft foods, easy to go down, higher calorie and you stay full for less amount of time. Eat good solid protein and again chew chew and chew somemore.

I hope these tips help!! Your not alone we all want you to succeed!!

If the vomiting is due to the band (PBing) then you need to see your doctor ASAP. If you have are forcing yourself to vomit then please consider seeing a therapist or other specialist in eating disorders. This is another form of addiction just like overeating. You obviously know that it's a problem so the next step is to ask for help. Bulimia on its own is very dangerous, but bulimia with the band is even more so as you are vastly increasing the chances that your band will slip and you will end up back in surgery. Also, esophogeal erosion is fairly common in long term cases.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. We are all here to help each other through our failures and cheer on our successes. I wish you the best of luck.

Beth

Thank you for all the advices. It realy help moticate myself to keep trying.

About the vomiting, yes, I'm forcing myself to vomit because I want to eat more, and with the band I can't. I already see a therapist, and she is trying to help me, but I'm still unable to stop.

The first thing I will try to do is stop drinking during meal. I notice that when I drink with meal, makes it easier for me to vomit. Only solids is much harder. Maybe this is help me control the vomiting.

I'll go one step at time. This is my goal for now. After I achieve this goal, I can jump to the next. I'll keep posting to update in how I'm doing. Thank you very much for all the support.
