Primary Care Doctors

Recommended Posts

Okay... I'm getting sick and have a doctor's appointment tomorrow AM. I have not told my primary care doctor that I'm going to Mexico be banded. This primary care doctor is relatively new for me because my old one moved away not too long ago and I've only had one prior appointment my new one. My question is, what reaction have you gotten from your primary care doctor about your decision to be banded? Not only banded, but going to Mexico to have it done because insurance companies suck? Have they been supportive? Tried to talk you out of it? Just curious.

Thanks, Kristy

My Dr. has been a little tight lipped about her opinions. But very supportive and helpful with follow-up appointments, prescription requests and helping me get off my blood pressure medications. I told I had the lapband, but did not tell her where.

I go in for blood work every 4 - 6 weeks. She found that my potassium level were low. And prescribed me something for nausea. I am very happy with her. She has been my Dr. for 3 years now.

Hi there, I had to have my primary physician complete some paperwork before my lapband surgery and he was very supportive...mind you..I was not being banded in Mexico.

Some physician, for some odd reason, are not receptive to have surgery out of country. Don't be surprised if he is negative about that. It's happened to others.

You have made a great decision and no matter what anyone says, you are getting tremendous care at the OCC...and it's only ignorance from others who say otherwise.

Good Luck!!

Your Dr will be glad that you are going to end your weight problem Once & For All. They might be unsuportive about going out of the country so don't mention it. They think that US Dr and Facilities are the only safe places to go to. The OCC is a fantastic facility with a great staff. You will love it there. :D:DB)

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. I'm going to tell her tomorrow. I hope to get an anti-nausea prescription to throw in my bag... just incase I need it. I'll let you know her take on my new adventure to a new life.

Thanks, Kristy

You can get some anti-nauseau liquid medicine from the drugstore without a prescription.
