Excited :)

Recommended Posts

Wow, what a week it has been! I am thrilled to say that my surgery is finally scheduled =D. I have been waiting for this for over three years and I can not explain everything going through my head. I am now 18, but I wrote on this board at the age 15 wanting it bad. I have a different log in name now, it was sweetyetbratty. So here is my info 6' tall and have like a 46 bmi. I have already started my pre-op diet and I am doing very well on it. My surgery is scheduled for the 28th of this month. Everyone at OCC has been great so far, and I can't wait to meet them in person. Almost everyone I tell has a response of "Are you scared or nervous?" and I can honestly say NO. Now this is not to say that I won't be nervous before going into the operating room, but I have been waiting for this for too long to be nervous. I understand that this will not be easy, but I am ready to do whatever to make this thing work.

I just had to spill to all of the lovely people on this board, lol. It would always encourage me when I was going through something to come on here and see the generousity of everyone and to know that I would one day have the chance to have the procedure that binds everyone on this board together. I now have that chance, and it is a wonderful feeling.

Have a wonderful week!

P.S. I decided to start a blog today and would love for you to check it out at leahlanette.blogspot.com

Congratulations on your decision. I believe I had some sort of help like this when I was your age, I wouldn't be where I am today at the age of 39. You are a strong and amazing person and it's a excellent choice for you. Keep us posted and I am looking forward to reading your blog.

Leah Lanette first of all :lb9:

Secondly :lb10: on making this decision and being ready to take on the challenge. At your age you should be able to kick some butt(literally off :lb16: ) Since you have been wanting this for 3 years I bet you have done your homework. Now is the time to immerse yourself in this forum to get your mind even more ready. You have a great attitude about this. Nothing to be nervous about as far as the surgery or Mexico goes. You are only in the OR maybe 45 minutes total and it takes Dr. Ortiz about 10 - 15 minutes to actually do the surgery. He is a wonderful compassionate Dr. who is in the business of helping folks just like you and me to get healthy.

Hope to hear from you more often now on the forum so we can all follow your journey. I get so excited for new people because I remember how I felt before I got my band in June.

How exciting!! I'm so thrilled for you. You are going to be fine.

You will now have your whole life in front of you. I wish this surgery

would have been available when I was younger. You are very lucky.

Happy Thanksgiving! And I will be thinking of you on your surgery date!

Hi, my name is Pamela and I am Leah's Mom. I have also been on this board for about 3 years. And it has took us both this long to convince her dad that this was the safe thing to do. We were hoping to be able to do this surgery together but mine is going to have to wait ($) a little while longer. But that is ok with me and I am so excited for my daughter!!! She is absolutely beautiful inside and out and she is determined to be successful in this. In fact she is already thinking and talking like a "bandster". Thank you all for your support, I will be with her every step of the way but I know that the support of this board will get her through her toughest times! God Bless

I would be so fantastic for you both to do this together!! Is there any way you can get a loan for the money? A 401k perhaps, if you have one.

That is wonderful you are so supportive and I can't wait for your daughter to be banded, and then you next!!!!

How very very refreshing to hear how excited you are about your surgery - you've got such a great attitude, I just know your going to do very well with the band! To top it off, you've got a really great supportive Mom.

Congratulations on your new beginning!
