Not Stuck Anymore!!!

Recommended Posts

I have been stuck at the same weight for almost a month now...I hit the 60 lb mark and nothing has happened since!!

I have good restriction, I do not intake more than 1200 calories per day, I drink as much water as I can, and I have been exercising 30 minutes per day.

What gives???

I have a protein shake for breakfast, protein and veggies for lunch, protein, veggies and rice or potato for dinner.

I do have snacks when I need them, I have a bran bar, Special K bar or unsweetened pudding.

I would love some suggestions as to how I can change it up and boost my weight loss again.

I am ecstatic with my progress so far...but would love the momentum to continue!!

Thanks everyone!!

I don't know if this will work for all, but has seemed to work for me. When I get stuck I will either consume more calories for a day or 2 or have less calories for a day or two to try to confuse my body. Maybe it is in my head, but seemed to help for me.

Welcome to the frustration club! I've hit more plateau's than I care to mention, but what seems to work for me is going on clear liquids for a day or two to "trick" my body and then the weight starts to SLOWLY come off again. I've never had rapid weight loss at any time so far though.

Also, exercising seems to help. Others have mentioned eating more calories for a day or two, kind of like cheating on something you really want, then going back to the plan and that has worked for me too.

Keep us posted, and good luck Cathy!

Thanks tlag, I have tried that too..chinese food seems to do it for me...if I plateaued for a few days, I would eat some chicken balls and sure enough I would lose a few pounds..tried it two weeks in a row and no dice.

It's just your turn for the dreaded plateau phase. Don't worry, it will pass. Just look at me, I've been on a plateau for 6 months!!!!!

Hi, My son says that when he would get stuck he would go off his diet for a day or two, then back to his routine and he would always start losing again.

I could alway tell when he was stuck at a certain weight, he would want me to come visit so we could go out for nachos and bloody marys. (otherwise it was because he needed his laundry done!)

Maybe you just need to shake things up.

You have done so well. I'm sure you will start losing again real soon.

Great suggestions...I have a lunch date tommorrow..but starting on Wednesday, I am going to back on shakes for breakfast and lunch and lean cuisine for dinner and see if that helps. I can't bear to go back on clear liquids, but creamy soups for two weeks did me well during post op...maybe I will try that.

As always, you all inspire me!! Thanks!

I read in Oxygen Magazine for women to increase your protein intake...maybe even 20 g per day would do it

Hi Cathy,

Maybe try bumping up your excersise a couple days a week to an hour, I read that you don't even start burning fat until 20-25 mins into the workout. Also, to get in the 10,000 steps recommended by most doctors for weight loss that takes at least an 1.25 hours of walking 15 minute based miles, so the 30 minutes may just not be enough any more.

Also, consider cutting out the carbs (rice, potatoe) and check your protein shake to make sure you don't have too many hidden carbs in that also and as already mentioned, bump up the protein and see how that goes.

Good Luck! It will start clicking again soon!!

Hi Kimmy, you are absolutely right the Ensure shakes I have been drinking for breakfast have 31g carbs and I should only be having 25g per meal, total 75g per day. You are so smart!!!

I will look into getting an alternate shake or try eating some straight protein.

I went to this great website at www.freedieting.com...and you can calculate anything at...even estimate when you will reach your goal.

Thanks for all of your suggestions!!

I would recommend to increase your exercise time try adding 15 more minutes if 30 is to much. Your body is probably use to the same routine so you need to trick it by either changing your diet or more exercise. That usually works for me. I hope that your great success starts soon again. :D

Cathy,

I commend you for sticking to it for a month and not blowing it. You have great

will power.

I would do what the others say, since that's what I do. (I get mad and pig out).

But I would shake it up. Eat some junk food! You can't over do too much!

You can probably stop after a day. I usually don't.

Anyway, good luck. Keep up the good work!!!

I took Tara's advice and went to McDonald's for dinner and ate 1/2 filet o' fish and a few fries..I doubt this is going to get me over the plateau, but it was good!!

I am going back on creamy soups for a few days and increase my exercise and see what happens!!

You guys are the best, thanks for your help!!!

Oh yummy! That sounds good Cathy! Let me know how you fair after your soup stage! I am curious if this helps you...G'luck! Also, I know you are doing exercises inside, can you try walking your block for about 15 minutes and see if that may make a difference too?

Good point on gaining when starting exercising...I really forgot about that and was wondering if I was retaining water or what.

I know I shouldn't really worry about my weight loss too much, since it will be 6 weeks out from surgery tomorrow. Come January 8 will be my 3 months out from surgery and will really concentrate on more hard core exercises. Right now, I am focusing on portion control, protein intake, and calories, as well with mild exercising.

Why am I rushing myself? i'm not really but it's because I am hearing all the successes and suggestions from everyone as they progress! It's is AWESOME to see and hear all this and it keeps me going forward ~ you are all inspirationals! THANK YOU!

I would reccomend switching up your exercise routine if you are walking you may want to try an elliptical etc. If your body gets used to the same routine it knows what to expect. If you change up your exercise it will be confused and be forced out of the plateau. And, as others have recommended, if you can fit in a few more mins. a day that may also do the trick.

Good Luck and keep us posted, this too shall pass. You are doing great, and are truely an inspiration to me.

Let us know how you do as you blow through this plateau. I'm confident you will get past this. You have the right mindset to go back to basics and get going again. Try the Mexican Chicken Soup recipe. It's really good.

Hi Taz, thanks so much...you are great!!! It has passed!! The scale moved down a pound this morning...I was patient and continued on my high protein diet plan, had a filet o' fish for dinner as a treat and boom!!

I have also been adding ACAI to my diet as well. It's an all natural cleansing chewable pill. Seems to work!

I'm kinda in the same boat ... hit the onederland and boom got stuck, but I have to admit that I am guilty in not drinking enough lately  When I'm stressed out and busy ... I tend to forget the drinking and if I force myself I get sick ...

See. I knew it. Awesome news! Now don't let McDonalds marketing and advertising find out. They will spin it some how... I can see it now...
