SherryNFL1
Hi Everyone, I had my band placed on Oct 2nd and and still feel so fatigued. I am walking approx 30 min a day on treadmill and have been back to work. I'm a RN, but find that my endurance for activity is still so low. I'm hoping this is just the surgery. Has anyone else experienced this? How long post op until you are your normal self. I'm doing well as far as the food plan-liquid phase goes, but am ready to start working out a little harder and need my endurance to return. Thanks, Sherry
cleo6666
Congradulations on your surgery! I think that getting back to normal is different for everyone. I was lucky and bounced back right away. Might I ask if you are taking a good vitamin? I went to the health food store and bought a liquid vitamin and started taking that right away. It was about $12 for a one week supply but it was totally worth it. I'll stop by the health food store today and see what the brand was for ya. Keep drinking lots of water and get plenty of rest. Have you heard or read about the benefits of Flaxseed Oil? I'm researching that and taking a tablespoon each day that I mix into my protein drink. It goes down much better that way. Looks gross though! Just some thoughts. Hang in there! Michele
mommyrkr
Being tired while you are on a liquid diet is completely normal. You may not be getting the best nutrients, or even near enough calories. It is how your body compensates for what you are doing to it by having the liquid diet. It will go away though, and you don't want to do anything to jeapordize your band, so just stick with it. Becki
Clynn
Hello Sherry, I had my surgery the day after you. I feel fine during my normal daily activities but as soon as I try to exert myself I get fatigued pretty quick compared to pre-surgery. I'm assuming once I go back on solids and get some better nutrition things will go back to normal. Just do what you feel you can and don't be too hard on yourself if you're not at where you were pre-op. bTw Cleo, how do those liquid vitamins taste? I'm doing the Flintstones vitamins now but I'm not very happy with it.
Rid
My doc analogizes to a freight train. You are putting WAY less coal in the engine, so it's a little harder for the train to get up hill. However, as you lose weight, you shed some of the heavier cars. Soon enough, it is much easier to get the train uphill with less coal. The fatigue will get better. Make sure you are getting vitamins and protein!
