Hello - I just had the surgery done. I like the staff here alot. the nurse that helpme with the IV and DrOrtiz and of course Dr Feelgood. Feeling a little grorry still but trying to get back to the hotel so I can meet up with everyone. I was starting to get really nervous and the begining but Someone with Stacy came in and reassured me everything will go GREAT - Thank you for that cuz I didn't question it again. Talk to everyone later when I can see a little clearer :)

Congratulations on your new band and new life! Make sure you follow the rules. There was a lady that rode in the van with us to the airport that said she cheated and on day 3 (i think) she tried to eat a french fry and had problems ever since. It's tough to get thru the 21 day post op, but is worth everything! You'll do great.

Welcome to the other side. Now is the time for you to heal and get through the liquid phase. Feel better and walk, walk, walk those gas bubbles away!

So far today has been the hardest!!! I didn't think it would be this hard. I'm starving and sick of broth. Do you think I could stick to vitamins and water. I can't seem to swallow the broth anymore. I just don't want to get to weak.

Jazzy - I was at the whitening from 9-12 she cleaned my teeth too. My husband fell asleep in the chair next to me.. kinda funny. The dentist didn't seem to mind, she actually giggled about it. sorry I missed you!!!!

Hey Selena,

I know what you mean about the broth. The thought of it makes me gag. I bought some popsicles. Dr. Miranda told me I could start the drinkable yogurt on day 4. She even wrote it on my papers. I bought some tonight and thought I might try it tomorrow. I had a bit of diluted apple juice on the plane home today. After nothing but broth and water it tasted great. Hang in there! Today was a bit tortuous for me also. They served cheeseburgers on the plane. I LOVE cheeseburgers! But I refuse to eat anything solid for my entire 21 days. You can do it.

When I weighed tonight I had lost so that eased the hunger pangs just a bit!

Stay in touch!

Kimberly

Hi Salena!

No problem! We will meet up one day. I waited a little longer to see if you may come out.

OK...about the broth. You are focusing way too much on the food intake. Just go with the flow. DON'T QUIT!! Stay with the guideline...trust me, it will get easier. You just have to remember you've had major surgery and you and the band need to heal progressively. Spice up your broth. I used beef broth with tobasco sauce to give it a kick. It helped. Also, drink lots of protein water too. Count your surgery date as day 1 and when you reach day 4, you can start with the drinkable yogurt......try the strawberry bananna to give you extra potassium. To help with the hunger pangs, if you haven't been taking the chewable Fiber Choice, take them one at 10am and one at 3pm ~ this should help.

Hope this helps you! Good Luck!!!

Hi Jude!

I've noticed in your posts that you often recommend drinking protein water. I live in Canada and I've never seen Special K Protein Water but I found some at the pharmacy called "Stacker 2" . It has 20 grams of protien and 80 calories per bottle. I don't know why I figured protien water would be calorie-free. Is the Special K kind calorie-free? I'm on the pre-op still and don't want to add too many cals drinking this stuff. Maybe I should just save it for post-op? I'm also going to look for Gas X strips and the chewable fiber- hopefully I can get them here. I did get some benefiber to put in water, would that be the same thing as the chewable fibre just in a drinkable form? Thanks for all your pointers!

Eight days till surgery!

Hi Sabrina! Congrats on your decision to be banded...you WON'T regret this for a moment.

I will also PM this message to you in case you can't find this thread...

OK, the Special K2O water comes in two form ~ bottled and "to go" packet. Here is the Nutritional Facts for both:

~ Bottled, 16 fluid oz (Mixed Berry flavor) - 50 cal, 0g Fat. 0g Cholestorol, 40g Sodium, 14g Carb, 5g Fiber, 6g Sugar, 5g Protein

~ "to go" packet (to put into a 16.9 fluid oz bottled water OR 2 cups (16 oz) glass of water) Pink Lemonade flavor: 30 cal, 0g Fat. 0g Cholestorol, 40g Sodium, 6g Carb, 5g Fiber, 0g Sugar, 5g Protein

The best buy between the two above is the "to go" packet. If you can't get these items in Canada, then google it and order online.

If you do the math, your Stacker 2 sounds like a pretty good deal. I've yet to find any protein water calorie-free. They flavor and sweetened the drink, hence the reason the difference in calories, carb and sugar content.

Hope this helps and Good Luck!
