I was just banded on 11/12 and met with my Dr on Friday. He said I am ok to eat soft stuff, like yogurt, oatmeal, etc. My question is this, when I am eating those things I feel like I'm eating too fast because I feel hungry and want to eat. Am I supposed to be taking 30 minutes to eat a bowl of soup or does that rule come into play when "real" food is introduced? I am not having any issues with eating a scambled egg (for instance) in 10 or so minutes. There is just not enough there for me to make it last much longer. I just don't want to mess anything up. Thanks for any help that you can offer.

I never heard of these time estimates for eating before but here are a couple of tricks i try to do when i eat to slow myself down:

1) cut everything up right away into tiny pieces

2) Try to chew 5-10 times, swallow then take another piece

3) Read a magazine or something to distract you

It's hard, you really have to concentrate.
