tnm75
Okay. I've been overweight most of my life. You know... my mom buys me jeans in middle school, they didn't fit, I didn't want to tell her because I was ashamed, so I put them on without buttoning them, wore a big shirt and was miserable all day long. Anyways, I digress. When I graduated from high school and left for college I weighed about 200 pounds. I'm only 5' 3.5". I started getting stretch marks on my shoulders. I started putting lotion on them, but it didn't help and they continued to grow. I have about three stretch marks on each of my shoulders and they range anywhere from 1 to 3 inches. Has anyone else experienced this? Just curious how weight loss will affect them. I'm not expecting them to disappear as I've had them since I was 18 and I'm now 33. Thanks, Kristy

But my grandmother, bless her soul!, had used Preparation H and vitamin E on her stretched marks! YES! I used to remember her using PH for EVERYTHING but never for the true reason! LOL I know, I know. But seriously, she had used it and it seemed to help and eventually she had smoothe skin. I also know she had used something else, but I don't recall at this very moment...give me time to think and I will respond again.
karenlynn79
Hey Kristy, I totally know how you feel. I have stretch marks on my stomach (had 2 kids though), thighs and other areas. I only have about 18 lbs to go and they are still there. I kind of think they always will be. I've never heard or seen anything that will actually help, though I know there are a ton of phony products out there. Sorry! I also have some small ones on my upper arms too. Let me know if you find something!!! Karen
nothereanymore
Hey Kristy, I’ve been using Bio Oil since all of my surgeries. It really hydrates the skin and softens the look – I don’t think it gets rid of them. But I have a friend who is taking medication that has caused her to gain weight very quickly, I got her on the Bio Oil and she thinks it makes a difference. (She’s getting them on her arms as well) When I use it consistently I don't see them as much. But the good thing is as we get smaller they get smaller too. Some become almost unnoticeable! Its hit and miss with these guys! But it can't hurt to keep you skin soft and healthy as you're going through your weight loss. I really did focus on that, especially with my face. Got into facials, peels and microdermabrations. (not sure how to spell that one…) and good products. Due to the economy there are a lot of specials going on for these types of procedures. Check your local spa’s if you’re interested. You can see a big difference right away. Loosing weight is almost as hard on the skin as gaining to much! We need to give it some extra care! Take care, Lisa

Take care, Lisa Where do you buy the bio oil from? Since starting this journey, my skin has been so dry and I think I need something extra to help with that. My hair isn't like it used to be, either. My hair feels dry and is falling out in clumps which is pretty scary. I try and get my protein, daily and actually eat more now than I did before the surgery and it still seems to be a problem. I would love to try the oil if I could find it to see if it helps?
nicolek
Hi Bio oil is available at Walmart for about $10.
nothereanymore
Its super easy to find, and what I do is go to Google, type in Bio Oil and see who has it cheapest. That's really the best way to find anything; you can compare prices and read the reviews. This isn't a high end product and it last a long time. Also to keep my skin moist my newest favorite thing is the de-luxe BAIN Hawaiian Cane Sugar Scrub, Amber Vanilla, its on sale at drugstore.com for $5.99. I bought a lot of these – its an awesome cheap treatment. Its just as good as many of the Sugar Scrubs at Spa's that are sold for up to $50. For your hair, Costco carries that one really expensive hair growth shampoo, it a keratin Shampoo and its works well and they have it at a great price. Make sure you are protecting it and you're getting your supplements. I’m on vacation this week but when I get back to work I’ll ask my Nutritionist about what he would recommend the best supplements for your hair and treatments and get back to you. Best, Lisa (I didn't even see Nicole's response and I think that $10 at Walmart is the cheapest - I'll be picking some up)

nothereanymore
Let me know if you like it. I get to try a lot of beauty products from some really high end lines - but I do like the Bio Oil, and buy it regularly. It really softens the skin and its so much cheaper.
