Amanda2008
Banded last Friday 11/21... I have been feeling better each day except today I have had pain since having some broth for lunch. Ever since then I have had rumbly tumbly stomach pain and noise. Each time I let some gas escape I feel relief. Is it gas? Did I eat too fast? I also had a big sneeze for the first time since being banded and ow that hurt! I've had about six chewable Gas-X tablets today! And lots of walking... I just had a grape popsicle and again lots of noise. Is that normal? nothereanymore
The pain is most likely gas, but the rumbly tumbly noise, well many of us have that: You may need to slow down, and see what happens. (And keep walking) But what's interesting is that the noise doesn't go away. Here’s a post where we were just talking about the noise issue: http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?showtopic=9203 Lisa
MrsParris
Amanda I missed you by just a day or so. I was banded on the 19th and left for home on the 22nd. I really think it may still be gas bothering you. I was so lucky on the gas pains. I had them only in my chest for a couple of days, but the Phazyme would stop that for a while. I get a real full feeling around the large incision area when I drink my broth or yogurt. I have been paranoid that I am drinking too fast or too much at one sitting. Maybe someone with more experience will let us know how fast is too fast or if you can drink too much liquid at one sitting. I just assumed that the rumbly noise I hear is my big stomach growling over its deprival. I am so excited. I get creamy soups and slim-fasts tomorrow. I have already planned on watery grits for breakfast with tomato juice mixed in. I am getting very tired of chicken broth and yogurt. Hope you feel better soon. Today was my day 6. I feel great. I think I could have worked today if I would have had to. Kimberly
Amanda2008
I think it must be gas. If anyone knows any tips for eating slowly (even broth) I would appreciate it. I've tried but I think I am still eating too fast! I even sip my juice or broth and swirl it in my mouth before swallowing.

I had crazy stomach noises until I had my second fill--then they went away. And it took about a month for the gas/gas pains to go away, but just let it out! You will feel much better. If you are eating the sugar free popsicles, that might be exacerbating your gas pains. I had to eat regular popsicles because the sugar alcohol in the sf ones were making my stomach hurt and giving me extra gas! It's normal--learn to love your new gassy self! Good Luck! I had to laugh at your response.....b/c my husband and I have never passed gas in front of each other......I know, weird, but we don't. Well that has changed now!!!!!! I would die if I couldn't let it out. He said he still loves me, gassy self and all....lol.
rotund1
I was banded 24 hours ago. I asked yesterday about sneezing and coughing and I was told the only thing that I should really be concerned about is vomitting from nausea. I was afraid about sneezing too, since I am a pretty aggressive sneezer. I have a lot tummy grumbling and noise too ( and I am only 24 hours post-op!) I figure that is normal? JazzyJude
Here are a few tips to consider when you are bloated and stomach making noises after being banded. You will have some gas bubbles in your body region from the surgery. They can be such annoyance! The quicker you act on this, the less gas issues you may have... ~ take Gas X strips or Phazyme throughout the day (I took 2 strips at a time) ~ take SEVERAL, mini walks throughout the day (not just one long marathon one) to jiggle the gas bubbles around ~ DO NOT sit around for too long at a time, which can cause an awful ache ~ while you are sitting down, occasionally, raise one of your arms and stretch upward towards the celing for a few seconds and then switch to the other arm, to assist gas movement. You don't want to just sit completely and not move. ~ PROTEINS! This is the major key of all. While on the 'clear liquid' stage, you don't have too many choices to drink. Drinking protein water helps alot or have a protein bullet in a drink such as Crystal Lite or Gatorade, to help curb the gurgling, rumbling stomach noises. On day 4, start drinking those drinkable yogurts and you will start to feel a difference. During your 'creamy soups' stage, choose wisely on what soups you eat (I' had cream of potato and cream of cheddar cheese together with some spices - YUMMY!) and also tomato soup with grated soft mild cheese melted. Having a protein shake would help as well. During the 'solid' stage, there are a lot of small, quick and "to go" items to have, such as nuts, beef nuggets (like beef jerky only softer and small pieces), spoonful of peanut butter (YUM!), cottage cheese, etc, and the list goes on... Everyone's body is different and you will find your foods that would help with your situation...
