mona-camille
....please tell me they will still do the surgery?! I would get to your doctor or a walk in center right away and tell them what you are having done. Maybe they can get you on a powerful decongestant as soon as possible. Maybe call the OCC also and see if they have anything to recommend. So sorry this is happening, I sure hope it all goes well for you!!
julieburns
As long as your breathing tests are OK (which most likely they will be unless you are a smoker,) and you don't have a fever they should do the surgery.
jhawkchick75
I was catching something when I went as well, but I didn't have a fever so I sure didn't speak up about it afraid they would not do it. But you know, after the surgery it went away. I wonder...in your IV I think you get antibiotics as so I wonder if it knocked mine out. Mine was more of a head cold though so my breathing was fine. I agree i'd go to a walk in clinic and get some drugs now to try to knock it out. Good luck! I'm sure you will be fine.

ValleyGirl
I just called the OCC....I can't believe you can call the doctors directly!!! I spoke with Dr. Martinez who said as long as I don't have a fever, I should be fine, that it sounded like a common cold and that I should just take it easy but to go to the walk-in if I feel feverish or get a real sore throat cause it is more serious if it's something like strep. I'm sure I'll be fine but I'm going to go to a walk-in right now anyway. Maybe under these circumstances they will do a swab and I can get the results right away. I'll keep you posted. tnm75
I got sick a couple of weeks ago. I was so nervous about it affecting my surgery. I would suggest going to the doctor just to be on the safe side. I'll see you next week! Can you believe that it's finally our turn?! louisem
Hi had major surgery (full laperotomy instead of laprascopy) about 10 years ago and came down with strep only a few days before hand. My Dr immediately put me on antibiotics and said that as long as I had them for 48 hours before the surgery (and of course afterwards), I would be OK. I ended up with a slight fever after the surgery which meant they wouldn't listen to my whining and let me out early but otherwise nothing else happened. I don't know what they would have done if it was elective surgery but I think you will be just fine.
