vangirl Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Hello support team I was wondering about the fresh incisions. They are glued shut, and I've been able to shower without difficulty. Should I bother with doing anything with them? Am I supposed to remove them at some point, or will the glue fall off on its own? Is there a maximum amount of time that the glue should be on for? Thanks! -Vangirl
CindyLou Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Mine fell off around day 5 or 6 post op, but I don't think there is any timeframe. Just let them fall off. As long as there is not swelling, draining, or redness then you should be ok.
mona-camille Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Mine stayed on for about 2 weeks! But, don't scrub them or pick it off. Leave it alone and let them fall off by themselves. Didn't you just LOVE waking up from anesthesia and finding your boobies stuck to your chest? That darn stuff was harder to get off than anything!

OMG! That was an experience that no one prepared me for! The very first thing I did in my grogginess was pry them loose. Kimberly
mlgpdx Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 It took about 2-3 weeks for mine to come off. My boobies weren't stuck to my chest?!?! I guess mine aren't big enough... although you'd never know from my pics.. it's called "air support" and push up bra's!
GirlBarb Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 3-4 weeks for me, the longer that they are on, the better...don't look at them or you'll want to pick at them. b
vangirl Posted November 30, 2008 Author Report Posted November 30, 2008 Thanks everyone! It helps to know. I'll leave them alone. It's so great to have this place to ask questions that come up. I don't know what I'd do without the support and advice here. And LOL about the boobies. Same thing happened to me. Thank goodness for the soft cotton half-tank/sports-bra-like thing I brought with me beforehand. Really helped once I got them unstuck. My mother had to help me.

I had mine on 3-4 weeks and when the redness was gone, I just scrubbed with those soft round nylons scrubby things and use shower gel and rubbed away. Then I alternately use Vitamin E and Maderma to keep it soft and minimized the scar lines...it is really working nicely for me.Oh...and, um, yeah, my hubby did the 'honor' to "lift and stuff" into my sport bra! ...too funny!

determination Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I absolutely LOVE this forum. I learn so much and get so many laughs! I share a lot with my 2 co-workers, just so they know what to expect after I get my lapband. I so appreciate all of you and enjoy every little thing that you have to share. I CAN"T wait for my LB. (wow I actually used the abbreviation) I still am having a little bit of trouble (a lot) getting back & forth to the subjects. Anyway thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of you bandsters out there and the soon to be. Anne
