OICU812
I haven't been on for a while, even though I have been reading. Just wanted to chime in with how much this crazy band is affecting me. I went all through Thanksgiving without being able to gain a pound. Here I am, a great chef, cooking for everyone just like on other Thanksgivings, but I can't stuff myself full of food like everyone else. In the past, I could just about eat a whole turkey, or at least would try. I sure hated to hurt everyone's feelings by only taking a very small portion of what they had brought to the feast. Very embarrassing for a big boy like me to only be able to eat the child size plate. I guess next year I'll have to eat at the children's table in the den, but maybe I'll be able to fit in the chairs. All kidding aside, I was banded on Aug 14, and am down over 90 lbs. I am hoping to hit a hundy by the end of the year. When I called the OCC in July, I never thought I would be able to reach that goal, so I never set one. Looks like it might be fairly easily hit now. I have had 1 fill, and thinking about getting another small tweek.
ValleyGirl
Ha ha ha. Thanks for that. I'm sitting on the net at The Lucerna right now thinking, what the hell am I doing? I needed to hear that. I get picked up in 45 minutes for surgery so please send more happy thoughts my way. Prayers would be nice too. I'm not particularly religious (I pray going through turbulance on a plane) but I know some of you are so I'm sure it won't hurt! OICU812
WOW! 90lbs is fantastic! I'm so excited for you. It helps if you are pretty darned fat to start out with, so I had a huge advantage in that department!
LoriBecky
hahaha - great post! Sometimes I "hate" my band too... especially when something tastes especially good and I want to eat more, but just can't. I actually skipped the Turkey this year at Thanksgiving and ate my favorite side dishes (well a few bites of each). I can have Turkey anytime.... but rarely do I get my mom's sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie. Would I have loved to dive into everything on the table and eat to my hearts content... yessssssss... BUT, it was well worth my longing for another spoonful of yummy, holiday decadence when I got on the scale and actually lost a pound over Thanksiving (even with the chocolate covered cashews that I sucked the chocolate off of hahahaha) So... i continue this love/hate relationship with my band.... I really do love it - i only hate it when its really doing its job and I wish I could have just one more bite hahaha... and so it goes Merry Christmas everybody!!! Thank you for making this board such a wonderful support for all of us bandsters! >

tlag
Congratulations on your awesome weight loss!! I agree with Lori, it is a love/hate relationship sometimes, especially when certain foods taste sooo good. But.......one look in the mirror and it reminds me why I am doing this. I recently had an unfill due to my stomach being swollen from vomiting. I found that spicy foods no longer agree with me. After vomiting alot after a few bites of chili, I spent over a week unable to eat or drink much at all. I went for an unfill and the doctor took out more than I had asked him to (we discussed before he took out the fluid how much to go out). He did what he wanted and took out more. I was very upset. As soon as I left the office I went to eat and could tell immediately that he took out too much. I called the office right back to tell them and he was a total JERK. He just said, give it a couple of weeks! My thought was for what?? for it to get looser!. Anyways, I called back today and am going to go see my regular doctor for another fill. These fills and unfills are starting to kill the pocket book, Oh well, at least my food bill should be going down.
Tasimon72
Hi, my name is Tricia. I have not had the band but my sister and sister-in-law both had the band. My sis-in-law got it in April and lost 80 lbs through October. My sister got it in June and lost 30 lbs through the end of November. Both of them had to have their bands removed after 6 months because the band eroded into their stomachs. They each got infections as a result of the hole put into the stomach from the band. I'm trying to find out if others have experienced similar problems. Please help! They are emotionally in turmoil over this.
