courtneyxlove
Hi everyone! I'm new. My name is Courtney, I'm 23 and I've actually been banded since August 3, 2002. I was banded when I was 16 years old. My starting weight was 331lbs, my current weight is 183. I've lost 148lbs, but would like to get down to 155lbs....so 28lbs to go! Since I lost my insurance soon after my surgery, nor had the money for fills, I haven't been filled for five years! I think I've done pretty well with my weight loss without them. But I really need help losing the last 33lbs. I'm getting a fill this coming Monday (Dec 8th)! My question is...since I haven't been filled for sooo long and really don't feel like I have much restriction, how do you think the weight loss will go? Parts of me thinks it might be pretty fast in the beginning and slow down...but other parts of me wonders if it'll be slow yet steady. I've been browsing this group for about a week now, it seems wonderful with tons of support. Can't wait to get to know people.
JazzyJude
Congrats to you Courtney and WELCOME! AWESOME JOB and you must share how you've done with your weight loss...inquiring minds wants to know for sure!!! I was banded in Oct 08, and the oldest bandsters I know right now are either KatyG or lisal, which they were banded 2 years ago. I don't think you would feel any different as when you had your fill then and what you will have next week ~ a fill is a fill, as long as your band is fine. At OCC, we have a good guideline to follow: 3 oz of meat, 1/4 cup of veggie/fruit, and 1/4 cup grain per sitting and no more than 1200 calories per day. As long as you follow this with a exercise routine, you should reach your goal in no time. WTG Courtey and Good Luck!
