vangirl
I'm on day 10 post-op, and I have been feeling restriction since day 1. Much more so on days 1-4, but I do have restriction, and can only drink certain amounts at a time. I was curious how much, in terms of volume, others have been able to drink at this point after the surgery. The maximum amount of water I can drink is 4-5 glasses, and then maybe 2-3 cups of liquid (in the form of soups, shakes, etc.) on top of it. I can drink more than 1/2 cup of liquid at a time, but not more than 1 cup. And I have the uncomfortable feeling when I get full.

Try flavouring the water with CrystalLite if you get bored. Hydration is critical. If you don't... you will feel weaker than you need to. Remember.... you are letting the band and your body work together and heal. Give it every opportunity to. Taz

Give it every opportunity to.Taz For the soups, I drank no more than 1/2 cup at a time, as often as I wanted during the creamy soup stage, along with drinking the 8 glasses of water you should be having. Now, I had a hard time drinking all of my water because I was always full and that is ok. Not every person's body is the same. just get it in as much as you can while you are healing and resting. Also, remember, that you have NO fill in your band and therefore have no restriction. You are totally bloated from the surgery. Just get into the practice of no more than 3/4 cup of food/soups at a time when you start on solids. Right now, learn to SIP, SIP, SIP and WALK, WALK, WALK... Hang in there babe...you are going to do just fine!!

I am on day 22 and still have major restriction. I could not get my liquids down at all. The 21 days post op, the most I ever got down in liquids was maybe 24 oz and that is with with 2 protien shakes. I just tried my best to keep liquid with me at all time and sip. It was very hard and I was very concerned that I was not getting enough liquids, but I have always felt full. Yesterday was day 21 for me and even food WOW, very restricted and still have problems with my liquids. I just keep trying. Keep up the good work! As far as the weight, the first week I lost the weight I came home with, the second week I think I only lost 2 and the 3 I lost 4 pounds in 4 days....I think everyone is different on that one. Good Luck!
