Christy26
Hey everyone, i've been searching google for pictures of lap band scars and some look pretty bad or i guess i should say, alot more noticeable than i expected. How long does it take for them to heal and approx how big are they? Its a total of 5 incisions correct? Ive read on here that they fade over time- but is that over years? ~Christy

I use both Vitamin E oil and Maderma to help it heal and smoothe.
Christy26
Thanks Jazzy - your info is always very helpful. I will be sure to buy some of that too!
nothereanymore
You should take a look at Pammie's website; she has a lot of photos and some good ones of her tummy. This is her journey which includes Plastic Surgery photos as well. She looks awesome! http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?...s0tysj&Ux=0 We'll all different; some scar better, some worse. It’s really dependant on your genes and what type of skin you have and Jude is right, some treatments will soften the look and I'm getting cortisone shots now - I'll let everyone know if those work out. Best, Lisa

Ive read on here that they fade over time- but is that over years? ~Christy I'll post some 6 week scar pictures here in a bit. They're not that bad for 6 weeks, and will fade in time. They're really great at the OCC, they use medical superglue for the external bits so they leave very small scars...(myself personally, I've used regular super-glue on some cuts and had no scars haha.). CindyLou
I'm less than 3 weeks out and you can barely see the small ones and the larger one is fading quickly. One of them you can't see see at all. I usually scar pretty well, I'm very fair skinned.

Ive read on here that they fade over time- but is that over years? ~Christy Christy---best of luck on all the new adventures ahead. I actually have really bad scaring. They are called hypertrophic scars and for some reason----I got them. I hear that it depends all on how you heal. I had a c-section and had a slight hypertrophic scar (per my husband) but because that scar was not in an area that is being touched a lot it almost is completely gone. However my lap band scars rub up against everything---especially my kitchen counters and I feel that had a lot to do with the hypertrophic scar. The funny thing is that it's primarily on the largest cut. I never wore a bikini and I doubt that I ever will so it's not a big deal to me. I am sure you will be fine! mona-camille
My port scar is the only one you can still see and it isn't so bad. My skin is very very pale so mine probably looks worse than most, but even so, it's not bad at all.
KatyG
My port scar is the only one you can still see and it isn't so bad. My skin is very very pale so mine probably looks worse than most, but even so, it's not bad at all. The only scar you can see on me is my port scar and it is very very faint. Even though I am over a year post-op, it is STILL fading... HTH!
