bowel movement

Recommended Posts

I had my lap band last 12/17/08 and been on clear liquid and tomato soup.

I have not gone to the bathroom for bowel movement. Is this normal?

I was that way too at first. You need to get started on Benefiber or Metamucial sugar free. Do it twice a day, once at like 10 am and then about 3 pm. Hope you feel better!

Yep, same thing happened to me! Totally agree w/ Dana - take that stuff and it will kick back in. Also helps so you don't go in the other direction and get diareah (sp?)!!

I had a terrible time with constipation after surgery and it seemed to make my gas worse. After about a week, I ended up having to use milk of magnesia (metamucil gives me really bad gas too) which moved things right along and actually made me feel better. I spoke to the doc at OCC to make sure this was alright. They like metamucil better but I didn't want to risk the gassiness so he said if I neede to it wouldn't harm anything with the band. ;)

I guess you could experience that, though I didn't. Once your body gets used to the Metamucial, you will just be regular. It is great.

Hi Angela ~ this is totally normal. Remember, you just had major surgery and like all other surgeries, comes along with the unusual meds we don't normally take. Now every person's body is different and reacts different to a lot of options. Most people use either the Metamucil or Benefiber. But if the MOM works for you, go for it!

I, too, use Benefiber ~ either the chewable Orange-Creme flavored tablets and/or the unflavored powder to put in my drinks.

Be consistent in taking a product daily and your 'rotor rooter' problem will be taken care of.

Hope this helps you...
