ValleyGirl
I'd like to spend a night or two in San Diego after my first fill next month. Can anybody recommend a good place to stay? The Cdn. dollar is down again and one night hotel stay cost me $300 last time, ouch!!!
CindyLou
Good luck with that! Hotels in that are seem to be very expensive. I would try the choice hotel website and look for one of those. But we went last year and spent almost $200/night for a cruddy Holiday Inn. If you go outside of SD a little bit you will probably have better luck.
tnm75
Sabrina, Do you have a SAMS CLUB card? You can get pretty good discounts at a La Quinta Inn & Suites with that. Also, if you tell them you are LDS you get a 10% discount... there is nothing you have to do to "prove" you are LDS. I know this because I used to do audits for them many moons ago. And, my sister-in-law is a general manager for the company. Another idea, look into purchasing hotel gift cards from eBay. I've done this several times for Marriott gift cards... just make sure the seller has incredible feedback. One other option... www.hotels.com --- I love the site. JazzyJude
I've stayed at all these hotels and they are great. One warning though, I love the Catamaran and you are just across thr street from the ocean but it is a VERY busy intersection and if you are driving, word of caution, you will go crazy looking for parking spot! I, personally, like the Bahia between these 3 hotels. Nice size hotel, wonderful views from your room, walking distance to the ocean/Mission Bay beach, great time walking on the boardwalk/ocean front walk. You're about 10 minutes from the airport, with no traffic. Here is there official website... http://www.bahiahotel.com/ Good luck and enjoy! Guest mansaw
are the places mentioned above all relatively close to Hotel Lucerna? Do you know if the clinic will still pick you up from those hotels for the same price??? Hmm something to think about - just thought it would be easier to book through the clinic but with the dollar being so crappy its worth looking into! The OCC is only about 8 blocks north of the Lucerna.. Cosmed plastic surgery clinic is 1 block west of the Lucerna. Walking distance for the go getters. LOL. Guest mansaw
Yah - I walked to Cosmed...but I was curious about how close other decent cheap hotels are besides the lucerna in case I cant get the same deal if I stay extra nights. ValleyGirl
The hotels suggestions I was given were for hotels in San Diego. I don't wnat to stay in TJ a second longer than I need to. I have family that works with law enforcement in the gang unit and what is going on there is really serious. Going out partying in TJ isn't a risk I'm willing to take- and, believe me, I've always been a risk-taker...the "you gotta try everything once" girl, lol. San Diego is gorgeous too, so I'm happy to hang out there for a couple days of sunshine and shopping, making a quick trip over the border for my appointment only. Dontondan
I just got back from San Diego and got my room through Expedia.com and paid about US $69 at the Haborview Sheraton which is right across from the airport. You can put in how much you want to pay and what area that you want to stay in and they give you the hotel for the price you want to pay. This was a beautiful hotel and we had a beautiful view of the harbor, comfortable beds and free shuttle to and from the airport to catch the busses to town. jhawkchick75
We came in a day early and stayed in San Diego. I let them know at OCC and they had no problem picking me up at that hotel and bringing me to OCC. I stayed at a hotel right on the water which was OK, but not real fancy. Seemed to be a lot of college kids staying there, but our room was on the corner so they weren't too loud. Happy new year!!!!

I know another girl that helps a lot of plastic surgery patients, I know she likes the Del Rio,, which is a couple blocks closer to the OCC. If I remember right,, she was budds with the manager and got a good rate,, I'll email her and see what that rate was.

Kristy Hi Kristy, I live in San Diego and the Handlery isn't really near anything in walking distance except Mission and Fashion Valleys (both good malls, though). I heart the Bahia. My sister got married there and that is a fantastic price, near the beach. The Catamarran is also very good, across the street from Belmont Park and Mission Beach and within walking distance to Pacific Beach and all of its little stores and restaurants. If you're staying for two nights or more, try The Beach Cottages. It's on the beach and also within walking distance to everything Pacific Beach and Mission Beach have to offer. You'll get their winter rates in February, and my family loves going down there!! It doesn't have tons of amenities, but the water is literally in the backyard. It's very low key. We love it.
