ckiki
I am going shopping this week, and I have a few questions. Are bouillon cubes ok to take to TJ, or are they gross and too salty? I know someone on here mentioned pre packaged broth powder they saw in Walmart in the Mexican food section, but I couldn't find it. Also, I bought a whole thing of Power Aide, is that ok to drink during the 21 days (even the first 7 days) because it's not really clear liquid, it's the fruit punch one? What about hot chocolate, is that ok to drink after the first 7 days of clear liquids? And Fudgsicles are ok as well, since technically, if it were to melt it would be drinkable..lol

The hotel has yummy broth. On the flight home I had gatorade and water. Power Aide is fine. After day 6... hot chocolate is fine. And, fudgsicles are fine. stephanieginaz
Hi, take bouillon cubes with you. It saved me while I was in T.J. Also try crystal light packets in a bottle of water. I don't think alot of Power Aide is a good idea. I know that it has electrolights but it is also high in sugar. Fudgsicles saved me before and after the banding but they were sugar free. After the banding sugar free rice pudding helped to crave my sweet tooth. I know the pre op diet is difficult but you can do it. If you are drinking protein shakes try Lean Body. Good luck and let us know how you are doing. I am going shopping this week, and I have a few questions. Are bouillon cubes ok to take to TJ, or are they gross and too salty? ckiki
Yeah, I will take it easy on the Power Aide...I just thought for a little change, I might have a little. I also bought Crystal Lite packets, as well as lemon flavored water. Thanks
tnm75
Remember that there is no calorie counting during the 21 day post-op diet. Do what you need to do to feel satisfied. I drank LOTS of Gatorade during that time. And, I still lost 15 pounds. For fudgesicles... I purchased Heathy Choice. They were yummy... and, I didn't care for the Skinny Cow brand at all. MagnoliaGurl
I've got a question too... What brand of broth do some of you prefer?? Also, what about draining the juice off of regular chicken noodle soup?? Would that be okay for the first 7 days?? I'm just afraid that plain broth is going to make me gag!! :lb12: Thanks!! I use the Wylers broth Granuals, they are good and easy to mix. Yeah, you can have the broth from the chicken noodle, as long as you are not tempted to eat the rest! I did drain the broth off of the chicken noodle soup. It is so yummy. Alot better than just plain chicken broth, of course I preferred Campbells, it just had a better flavor to it. I then gave the noodles to my husband or immediately through them in the garbage. You can do this, the days will go by faster than you think. Pretty soon you then will be able to do the creamed soups and drinkable yogurts. I find that my taste buds are very sensitive to flavor more so than ever. I am now looking forward to Monday. That is when I can start eating solids. Good Luck.
jhawkchick75
I bought the Wylers as well, but it is still sitting in my cabinet never opened b/c I ate from the hotel the whole time. But I do know many people that took it and heated it in the coffee pot in their room, so it is up to you. I also used regular soup and drained it after a bit. Towards the last of the 7 days, I would gag just thinking of regular broth, but like folks said, do not let yourself eat any of the other stuff in it! Stick to the plan! I know many folks that also took some ramen and just heated the powder and got rid of the noodles, but I didn't do that b/c i was reminded about the high sodium content in that. But many have and did great. To be real honest, everyone is different but I wasn't very hungry while I was in TJ. The special K20 water and the broth in the hotel did me just fine. But everyone is different of course so as cheap as the bullion cubes are it wouldn't be a big deal to take them with you. I can mail you mine if you want!!!
