Christy26
Hi Did anyone use any appetite suppressants (over the counter or prescription) while they were waiting on their first fill and restriction? I know the purpose of the band is to not have to use these but 21 days of liquids is intense especially if you are not feeling restriction.... just curious. I have meridia and phentermine from previous prescriptions my dr has given me and I considered using these to help me through the post op stage before I get filled. Any thoughts? jhawkchick75
I personally would not do it. I used all those over the years and you know what, they did not work. They were a quick fix but not a long term answer to my obesity. First, after my surgery I wasn't hungry at all. I actually had to force myself to eat b/c I just wasn't hungry. Now don't get me wrong, after a while that changed and I was starving, but I followed the basics and it helped a lot. Second, you have to remember this is a lifestyle change and although the band is a tool there will still be a lot of work and dedication on our part to make this successful. I knew from the day I set my appt that this would not be easy and would take a lot of work. But if you take all the ideas everyone has provided here (protein bullets, metamucil, etc...) then it is doable and you WILL be successful!!!! The hardships we go through early are prepping us for the lifestyle change we are undertaking. So use this time to get yourself into a healthy routine. You CAN do it!!!! Best of luck and stick with it!!!
nothereanymore
I totally agree and here’s the question I’d ask yourself – did they help you lose your weight long term when you were taking them? If the answer is no (which it most likely is since you're getting the band) I wouldn’t use them, (and I personally wouldn’t) they are really hard on your body and you’re working to create life long healthy eating habits, diet pills don’t normally do that. I would strongly recommend you ask Dr. Ortiz when you see him and let him tell you what you should do – he’s the expert – not us. And this is about a prescription medication that should be taken by the direction of doctors.
CindyLou
I agree that you shouldn't use them. It's all a learning process and will make you much stronger in the end!
BeBe
When I am PMSing, I am ravenous - so I usually take a couple of green tea diet pills. They really halp take the edge off my hunger, otherwise I get so hungry I will eat until I PB. I wouldn't take prescription meds though.

JazzyJude
I agree with Shelby, Lisa and CindyLou ~ don't do anything to jeopardize or taking risk of your own body. Do the things naturally. Again, the key to weight loss is PROTEINS! Re-evaluate your protein intake as this will help guide you with proper, healthier weight loss. Lack of proteins will make you hungry and wander off to eating the things you shouldn't eat. When you plan your meals, recheck to make sure your are giving yourself plenty of proteins DAILY. Ther eis NO easier way than to do the safe way for a healthier new you ~ do it naturally and you will prosper.
nothereanymore
There's also a lot of bad press (and recalls) on diet pills - over the counter and prescription. That's why I'm so glad I have my band - it works better than any of these. http://www.usrecallnews.com/2008/12/danger...old-online.html
Christy26
Thanks for the responses. i'm a vegetarian so its very hard for me to get tons of protein in - but i will cross that bridge when I get to it. Thanks!
