Amanda2008
I wish they would tell people to avoid this food... I have the WORST gas pain after eating broccoli! It is a different gas pain than with other foods. Is this forever or only in the first few months? Can anyone tolerate broccoli? I LOVE broccoli, plus it is one of the healthiest vegetables so it's disappointing!
yoyodieter
I love broccoli too! And up until my last fill I had no problem eating it, now I am pretty tight and it seems to get stuck every time, no matter how much I chew it, It didn't cause me anymore or anyless gas than I already get. It bumms me out not to be able to eat it like I used to.

nothereanymore
I can eat it if I just cut off the flower tops into little pieces and I make a chopped salad with the broccoli, some red/green onions, very small bits of celery (everything is small its) some red grapes if you want (chopped as well so the skin isn’t a problem). It’s my fast version of the one that has raisons in it – but I can’t eat them too well. I'll even put the shredded carrots you get at trader joes and to me this is actually better the next day if it sits. I take a some fat free (the low calorie one) mayo, white vinegar and a little bit of splenda – mix and pour over Based on the size of salad don’t use all of your dressing – its just to coat and soften the veggies so they are easier to eat. Here’s a ½ cup of fat free (the low calorie one) mayo I tbsp of white vinegar ½ to 1 pack of spenda or a tsp of sugar to taste (some don’t use any sugar or splenda – its personal preference) many don't like the splenda in it and prefer the sugar - its just a tsp so the calories are low. Its great with chicken, and easy to make a bowel and use it for lunch with some protein for a couple of days.
mona-camille
The first time after banding that I tried broccholi, it gave me the worst gas pains I have ever had. I thought my intestines were exploding! I was devastated because I love broccholi. Well, just last night I tried some again, A LITTLE and no problem this time. I was banded back in March so I don't know why it was ok this time. Maybe the timing, the amount dunno. Next time, just do a tiny amount and see how it goes. I feel for you, those pains I had made me cry! Well, not really, but if I was a crying sort of gal, I would have!

I LOVE broccoli, plus it is one of the healthiest vegetables so it's disappointing! After my 2nd fill, I find that I have to be VERY careful to eat the raw broccoli florettes and not the stem. And I have exactly what Lisa made and I add pine nuts or another kind I am in the mood at the time. I had to really cut them into tiny, tiny pieces. Now steamed, I don't have a problem with ~ even add some grated cheese on top, not a lot...just for flavor. Again, as long as I take tiny pieces and chew it good, it's a good thing. CindyLou
I can only eat cooked, not raw. I'm gassy all the time now anyway.... Try beano when you eat it.
