throwing up

Recommended Posts

I've heard (and had myself) a lot of questions about vomiting after being banded. It's scary because if you think of how slowly you have to sip sip sip and chew chew chew to get food down, then stuff coming up seems like it would be horrid! Well, I got a flu-like bug over the Christmas holiday and ended up throwing up 5 or 6 times. The first few times, I would "vomit" but nothing could get up, and then I finally realized I had to try to relax so that I could get it out of me and I was able to actually throw up enough and then I was better. Afterward, I just stayed on liquids for the next day and half or so just to further calm my stomach and make sure my band was not overtaxed and it's just fine. That episode was about a week ago now and I feel just fine and have been able to return to eating solids with no damage to my band our pouch.

I just thought I'd share since I know that getting sick was such a concern for me. I don't suggest doing it for fun (lol) but now I know I can puke and still be okay with my band at least!

Unfortunately, I just had this experience myself. I have been needing a fill but I still had trouble actually vomiting anything up. Now my husband doesn't want me to get a fill because he is so scared that I'm going to "damage myself". Amber it sounds like you are pretty tight and that you did okay. Would you let me know where you are on the loose/tight scale? Thank you for your help.
