Blind fills question

So I decided to go to a local dr. for my first fill rather than going back to OCC (for various reasons), but he does them blindly (i.e. no fluoro). I have a lot of stomach fat, and despite poking around the area, I haven't been able to feel anything that feels distinctively like a foreign body inside me (although I certainly feel it inside me). I'm just wondering how he is going to be able to find the port when I cannot. Is there a certain trick to this? I tried doing a sit up, and that didn't help. I'm starting to get nervous about my first fill on Friday, and I don't know if he is going to numb the area first.
