jarvis Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 I found that we should go on a liquid diet (again...argh!) for 3 days after our fill (this will be my first), But are we able to eat and drink (not together, of course) the morning of the fill?
ValleyGirl Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 I was told to eat light the day of fill but I didn't have it at OCC. Sabrina:)
Babe Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 I was told to eat light the day of fill but I didn't have it at OCC.Sabrina:) sabrina, where did you have your fill done? with Dr. Arseneau or did you go to NW fill center or somewhere else? Did they use flouroscopy? I'm trying to sort out who to go for after care... thanks, Ayeesha
CindyLou Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 I was told no eating the day of fill....the pouch needs to be empty for the fill. Then at the fill Dr. So reccomended 2-3 days of full liquids but said it was up to me what I could tolerate.

vangirl Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Send a message to Dolittle and ask him to send you a great article on how to have a good fill experience. I found that article really helpful and informative. What I did was only have liquids the day of the fill and at least for eight hours before. I was told I wouldn't need to be on liquids after the fill, but to be on the safe side, I decided to have just liquids for the rest of the day and the next day. I progressed to soft foods on the third day and solids the fourth day onward. I didn't go to OCC either, so this would be different than their instructions.

jhawkchick75 Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 I've been told it's best if you do not eat anything before the fill. I usually try to get mine as early in the AM as possible.
CindyLou Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 if the pouch isn't empty then the medium used on the flouroscopy won't flow through accurately...... any type of baruim swallow requires the patient to have nothing by mouth for approx. 8 hrs prior to the procedure
jarvis Posted January 21, 2009 Author Report Posted January 21, 2009 Thanks girls, that helps a lot. What about liquids.....coffee up until an hour prior?
JazzyJude Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Dr Miranda told me nothing 4 hours prior to having a fill. After your fill, on full liquids for 3 days and then progress to solid foods. Hope this helps...
