2 weeks post-op

UGH, today is the first day that I have been really wanting to eat something different. Up until now I have been really enjoying the soups and not been too hungry. Every day I have a lot of water, a yogurt smoothie, a protein shake and a bowl or two of soup. Now that I have been doing this for a while I am so BORED with it! I think it would be easier if I could just have soup all day long but it is higher in calories and fat and I know need to keep it to one or two bowls max. I keep changing up the soups and the times of the day I have what I have but I find myself constantly thinking about food and counting down the days until I can eat again. I have splurged once and had some soft serve ice cream and that was really good but just ended up making me feel guilty.

I am also frustrated because my weight keeps fluctuating really bad. One day I'll be down 2 or 3 lbs and then the next morning I am up 4 lbs! I know that I shouldn't be getting on the scale every day but I was really excited to see it go down and then the mornings that it goes up it almost ruins my day.

I feel your pain! I was also fine until about 12 days.....then food was driving me crazy. I really don't have any tips to offer, just encouragement to hang in there! Forget about the scale weight....any gain is water. You can do it!!!!

I am not really bored with liquids yet, only because everyday I try and have a different soup. Yesterday I had minestrone with all the good veggies and pasta strained out, but then I added a little Parmesan cheese and let it melt, and it was so yummy. Today, I made that wonderful Chicken Tortilla soup from the recipe forum and added sourcream, and it is definitely a liquid taco.

I think I dream about food every night though. Infact last nights dream was so real feeling, I thought I really ate something and kind of freaked out this morning, but I know I really didn't..lol. Wed, I am going grocery shopping to buy a bunch of healthy foods, since I will be cooking home on the weekends alot now, which I never did before. I am so excited to eat on Thursday!!

Hang in there girls, we can do it!!!!

I am dreaming about food too! Last night I actually dreamed that I went to a fridge and started chugging a diet coke and then started freaking out in the dream that I was going to stretch my band and I shot up in bed like it was a nightmare freaking out! What's funny is that I stopped drinking diet sodas a month before the surgery because I knew I probably wouldn't ever drink it again and it is probably the only thing that I am not craving at the moment! Weird stuff...

I am just going to have to hang in there, maybe I'll try an applesauce later tonight or something...

Yeah just a few more days. I am reading other forums and i think the OCC is the only one that requires 3 weeks of liquids. Every other doctor seems to do 2 weeks liquids and the 3rd week starting on soft foods like mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs etc.... i get jealous reading it. lol

oh well just a few more days left - i can't wait for some scrambled eggs and maybe some wheat toast!!!

Yeah, I have read that before. The thought actually went through my head when I was craving real food, that how does my body know if I was told 3 weeks or 2 weeks. But I have never caved in, OCC has those rules for a reason, so I figure a few more days of liquids won't kill me.

I can't wait to eat scrambled eggs, too....and hopefully bacon!

ckiki,

you've done great with 21 pounds lost though! thats awesome. I was losing about a pound a day but that has slowed... I havent been walking much though so I need to kick that in gear. I plan to start next week atleast.

Yeah, mine has slowed down the past couple of days. I am hoping to lose 5 more before I eat solids...but who knows if that will happen. I can't wait to be able to exercise at the gym, because I can always lose weight that way, as well as, inches.

Congrats on your weight loss! :)
