leyla
you know, I am in the same situation, more or less. I live in Seattle and had my first fill with a Bariatric Surgeon named Dr. Lauter in Bellevue. He did an extensive pre-op analysis-- checked all kinds of vitals and blood levels (folic acid, etc). He even had me see a radiologist and to take pictures of my upper GI. He filled me to 3.0cc's right away and I also have a 10cm band. The first 3 days were awful, and I couldn't hold down a thing. I was about to ask him to take some of the fluid out, when things settled, and now I'm able to eat. In fact, I can eat about a third of what I ate freely (as long as I chew well) until I feel restricted. My only concern is that what happens when I need another fill? I only have 1 cc left. I feel comfortable now, but I may need more restriction in the future. Vangirl, please keep us posted on what you find out and how the situation progresses. I've heard that 3.0 cc's is aggressive, but it's doesn't feel all that bad. Unless, maybe, there has been a leak-- but wouldn't that have occurred right away? It wouldn't start leaking 4 days later, right?

It wouldn't start leaking 4 days later, right? It is hard when there are so many varying experiences. Even when the majority of cases are a certain way (i.e. first fills being in between 1-2ccs), there are always going to be a few outliers who may need a lot more or a lot less. The stress is in not knowing what's the explanation for my little restriction. I don't think it would start leaking 4 days later, but I do have worries about the fill dr. puncturing something while he was searching around for the port with the needle. I try not to think about it and stay positive and hope that maybe most of it went into the scar tissue and not into the port itself. I do think some of it made it into the port because I have increased restriction from what I had before. Otherwise it's one hell of a placebo effect! From what I've been hearing from other people with a 4cc band, it doesn't feel like enough restriction to be 3ccs. But who knows.. I'll definitely update on here as soon as I find out what the situation is.
leyla
It may be possible, too, that some of leaked out. There was another girl on here- can't remember who-- but she had some of her band leak out after having an aggressive fill. I wonder if they will check how full you are when you go in next time. You may be at less than 3.0cc's and that may be the case for me as well. I'll keep you posted as I have my appointment next month. good luck
