I got my first fill last Friday and stayed the night at the Mariott near the airport. It was 120 dollars but very very nice and only six months old. Dr So told me that you should have your next fill when you are no longer saitisfied with the small meals and are

hungry before 3 or 4 hours.

I hear you about the sliming thing. The restriction really teaches you to take small bites and chew well.

I am getting nervous that I have screwed up my band! I am pretty sure that I am just over thinking but I hope someone out there can tell me that everything is just fine.

So here's why.....

I am eating approx. 1200 cals a day maybe more maybe less depending on the day. I have be doing very little exercise up to now but tonight I am starting to working out at Curves. I had my surgery a month ago! I go for my first fill March 2.

I feel as though I am stretching my pouch, every time I eat. I have coffee in the AM, with oatmeal, or yogurt something to get me going. Then for Lunch I have tuna and crackers or a small salad, maybe a pudding for dessert. Then it all goes down hill from there. I am a night eater, so when I'm at work everything is fine, I don't feel hungry or full. As soon as I get home, its look out kitchen. I eat a lean cuisine dinner, which fills me, and then I drink herbal tea for the rest of the night to stop me from eating. I mean I'm not eating a lot of food, But eating and then drinking makes me so full. I start to drink about 30-45 min after dinner. I feel that I am pushing the limits, I know what the answer is, I need to stop drinking so much tea, and water. But I thought it was good for you and should it not just run through the band?

Does anyone else get full and stay full for hours after eating dinner? I'm I over doing it? Do you think I'm stretching my pouch? I cant wait to get my fill at the OCC, and for me see my pouch. Oh and I have not lost any weight since I have been able to eat a week ago, while on liquids I lost 17 pounds since the surgery and now I have stopped, Is that another sign that I am eating to much?

Thanks for listening,

Jenelle

It does feel good to see your pouch but I will tell you that I not only stopped losing after liquid I gained 2 lbs and my pouch was fine. Im going for my second fill next week as I still can eat to much and dont feel full. You will be happy when you see the band and pouch on the screen.

Jenelle,

I think we all worry that we are "stretching our pouch" between surgery and our first fill. I tend to over think and worry about stuff too. First, if this is your first fill, your band is empty and you may have restriction just from the band placement but most of us do not. You do have a small upper pouch but the amount of food that you say you are eating does not sound like it is enough food to stretch your pouch. Are you getting clear "full" signals from your body that you are ignoring? After about week four (4) after surgery I had very little if any restriction and I could eat almost the same amount of food as before surgery. I had to use will power to stop myself from over eating. 1,200 calories sounds reasonable to me.

If you are waiting 30-45 minutes before you drink, although that is pushing it a little bit , I do not think it would be enough to stretch your pouch. I know that one thing that CAN stretch your pouch is eating AND drinking together so you may want to try to extend that wait time between food and drink. Otherwise, I think it is unlikely that you have done any harm.

Many people's weight loss slows or stops when they begin eating again after surgery/before a fill . I do not think it is a sign that you are eating too much. I think it is likely your body is adjusting to that 17 pound weight loss and with you adding exercise and continuing your 1,200 calories, you will most likely begin losing again.

Really, it sounds like you are doing good. The only thing I would recommend is spacing out the wait time for liquids. It sound like you are following a good course otherwise.

Congratulations on your success so far.

I'm sure you have done fine with your pouch, but that first fill will let you know that. Be very careful and do not drink at least 45 minutes after you eat. With no fill, it won't be as big of a deal, but as you get more restriction that will be very important as it will take longer for that to go through your band.

We all get freaked, but that first fill especially if you get it under flouro (which I recommend) will rest your nerves.

Sounds like you are doing a great job! If you are getting hungry especially at night, really keep up on your proteins and drink lots of water.

Good luck!
