sarahrnrx
Today is a very happy day for me. I gained my weight a couple of years ago after I lost my sister. My sister was my best friend. She meant everything to me. When I lost her, food seemed to be the only thing that could comfort me. Well, needless to say, little by little, I stopped recognizing myself in the mirror. So, I stopped looking. I was banded Dec 3, 08. Had my 1st fill Jan 16 & 2nd on Feb 11th. I have been told by everyone on how different I look. I havent been able to see it myself though.... until today. For the 1st time in a very long time, I recognize myself in the mirror. I know that may sound crazy, but it made me cry this morning. I am sooo grateful to Dr. Ortiz & Dr. Martinez and my husband. If I had not gotten banded, I know I wouldnt have ever had the moment that I had this morning when I looked in the mirror. I have 14 more pounds to reach Onderland...and I cant wait! For anybody who doubts if the band works..dont. Because it really does. Thanks for listening.

I would have shed a few tears! I am so sorry you lost your sister. I know your pain, I lost mine too. But, I think today, your sister was there to give you a wonderful gift and to say hello. After-all, it made you think of her and remember her with fondness and love when you looked in the mirror. And, it is NOT crazy to cry about that, it is perfectly normal! You should feel extra good, because you made me smile and thats not such an easy thing to do, LOL!!

jhawkchick75
Congrats! That is a huge step! I cannot imagine the feeling of losing a sibling, but it is fantastic that you are recognizing your feelings and working towards healing. I am sure that is what she would want. Great job!! Firecracker
Sarah, I am so glad you are doing well. We were banded the same day and I am kind of stuck at 20 lbs lost. I have also had two fills and I am thinking I may need a third. You are such a beautiful woman and look forward to seeing you and that bundle of joy that I know you are waiting to have!!! Say hi to your mom and husband from us. I know a while back you were having some issues with work and feeling okay. It sounds like you are doing much better. Glad to hear it. And be proud of yourself, I know we all are!!!!!!!!!!!

determination
I am so very happy, happy, happy for you! You are such a beautiful person inside and out. I truly enjoyed meeting you when we were getting our fills. I finally had my second fill on the 12th of March. I only have 15lbs. till onederland. It is so exciting how this band is working. I find it amazing that I can say only (15lbs.). It is such a different mental attitude than I have had in the past. Have a great weekend. Did you go back down to TJ for the second fill? I am so jealous, I have not found restriction yet. Good for you though. You two are making me jealous with all the weight loss. I was banded before you.
KatyG
Sarah, I just saw this post... What a GREAT story of your successes so far! I am so very happy to hear that YOU SEE YOU! You are beautiful on the inside and out... try to remember that, okay? Sometimes it is hard to look at our outward selves and see US, but our inward selves are still the same. I have no doubt you are going to hit your goals.
bigali
I completely understand were you are coming from. Thanks to the lap band I too recognize myself and know that I have 1.5 pounds left to my goal I don't recognize myself again because I never thought I would look this good ever again. I too love the band.
